Did you visit our Animal Welfare Centre last weekend? 🐾

From meeting our friendly alpacas and donkeys to spotting traditional farm livestock (like lambs, beef cattle, and pigs) and even exotic species like our meerkats, there was so much to see!

🐴 So, what horse health precautions do we implement during heatwaves for our horses? 🌡️🔥

💦 Additional monitoring of clean water access and potential dehydration signs

🥵 In extreme heat the horses are not worked

🧥 Horses with naturally thick coates or those that carry more body fat are kept fully clipped out. This is so they can remove body heat quicker

🌳 Horses live out in the fields so they can stand under our natural shelter (e.g. mature trees) to enjoy the shade

🆒 Grey and or thin coloured horses wear fly rugs/UV reflective rugs

🧴 Pink muzzled horses wear factor 50 suncream

🪰 All horses wear fly masks and are fly sprayed literally am and pm daily

🚿 Horses are given cold showers if they look uncomfortable in the heat

🐾 A PAW-some Achievement & Incredible Acts of Kindness!🐾

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our students, who have been working tirelessly to raise money for Guide Dogs National Centre and showing huge hearts for other amazing causes!

Through unwavering persistence, our Guide Dogs fundraising team has officially raised over £2,500! 🎉

How did they make it happen?

* Organizing fantastic raffles
* Baking (and selling!) a whole lot of delicious cakes
* Showing unmatched dedication to an amazing cause

Because of this phenomenal milestone, our students have earned the incredible honor of naming a Guide Dog puppy!

💇‍♀️ Chops for Charity! The generosity didn't stop there. We also want to give a special shoutout to the amazing students who spent months patiently growing out their hair, only to bravely chop it all off! Their hair has been donated to a charity that makes beautiful wigs for children experiencing hair loss.

A massive congratulations to everyone involved in these initiatives. Your hard work, commitment, and infectious enthusiasm are truly inspiring. You are making a life-changing difference in the world, and we couldn't be prouder. Very well done! 👏
