FUN FACT FRIDAY: Veiled Chameleon Edition

The Terminology:
• Male: Male
• Female: Female
• Baby: Hatchling
• Group: A lounge

Chameleons primarily change colour to communicate mood, signal stress, and regulate body temperature. Plus, their eyes move independently, giving them a 360-degree field of vision!
In our animal welfare unit, students design arboreal (vertical) habitats, set up drip hydration systems, monitor strict UV/heat gradients, and manage live-food nutrition to ensure optimal reptile welfare.

Week one in the books for our Year 1 AGCO Land-Based Service Engineering apprentices! 🛠️🚜

Why start slow when you can jump straight into the heart of the machine?

In their very first block, these apprentices dove headfirst into 2, 3, and 4-cylinder engines. They completely stripped them down, took precise measurements, calculated exact engine displacement, and set critical valve clearances.

The best part? Every single engine turned over smoothly afterward! 🔧✨

Huge shoutout to this new cohort for setting the bar high from day one. The future of land-based engineering is looking bright.

Our Animal Care Level 2 Technical Diploma students have been putting their observation skills to the test in the animal unit!

Using their phones as research tools, they captured key reptile behaviors, including tongue-flicking (smelling), striking, and constriction, for their latest Animal Behavior assignment.

Combining everyday tech with practical observation helps our students analyze precise behavioral cues up close and build real-world industry skills.

To help your day go as smoothly as possible, here are a few handy reminders before you head over:

🚗 Parking: On-site parking is available (use CV35 9BP for your sat nav!). It’s going to be a busy day, so please leave a little extra travel time to park up.

🎟️ Tickets: Double-check that you’ve booked your free ticket on Eventbrite and have it ready on your phone for our lovely welcome team when you arrive!

🎤 Talks & Agenda: The agenda for all our talks is available directly on Eventbrite so you can plan your visit ahead of time. Talks have limited sessions throughout the day, and seating is first-come, first-served (so seating can't be guaranteed for every session). Heading over early for your top choices is the best plan, and we really appreciate your kindness and patience as our team helps everyone get settled!
