Why do secondary school students need tuition in the UK?
The UK school system is very good. Students have a wide range of options when choosing the path they would like to follow in the future. In particular, children are prepared for opportunities around the world, rather than only within their own country.
Most schools teach 60–75% of the content exceptionally well. Remarkably, some schools teach 90% exceptionally well. The system is engaging and interesting, and the syllabus is updated every ten years.
Therefore, tutors with only basic teaching skills may struggle to meet the demands of the UK education market. Being a confident speaker alone is not enough to achieve lasting success as a tutor. Highly skilled tutors, with strong subject knowledge and professional teaching abilities, are better equipped to provide lasting value.
To help students master the remaining 10–40% of the content, knowledgeable tutors need to guide them towards a deeper understanding of the subject. Traditional tuition methods alone may not meet students’ needs within the UK education system.
When choosing a tutor, please consider their subject knowledge, excellent teaching abilities and consistently proven results, rather than focusing solely on their rates.
