We had a fantastic day yesterday at the South West Skills Campus, hosting an assessment day with Refresco! 😃

Applicants took part in a range of activities including group tasks, interviews and BKSB maths and English assessments, all as part of the selection process for four Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeships. We’re looking forward to making offers soon 🙌

Great to see Clevedon School Year 8 pupils getting a real insight into the construction industry during their visit to the Gilbert-Ash site in Long Ashton 👷‍♀️🏗️

The feedback has been fantastic, with both learners and staff finding the experience engaging, informative and inspiring. It was a brilliant opportunity to see a live construction site in action and learn about the wide range of career pathways available across the sector.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen and helping to bring careers to life for young people!

Yesterday we did something a bit different with our full time learners 👷‍♂️🧱

Instead of the usual sit-down interview setup, Lauren arranged for PNM Bricklaying Limited to come into the workshop to watch the students complete a live practical project. So many young people struggle to show what they can actually do in a formal interview environment, but completely shine once they get on the tools.

It was a successful afternoon! The employer got to see their attitude, work ethic, and practical ability properly and as a result, 3 of our learners were offered Bricklaying apprenticeships 👏

Well done to all involved and a great reminder that a CV isn’t everything; practical talent deserves practical opportunities to really showcase skills!

We were delighted to learn that Year 10 learners from Broadoak Academy enjoyed an engaging and informative visit to the Willmott Dixon construction site at Airfield Academy on Thursday 30 April 2026, organised by Weston College.

The feedback from learners was overwhelmingly positive, with many feeling inspired by the wide range of careers within the construction industry and gaining a clearer understanding of how to pursue opportunities in the future.

Our thanks go to Will Payne and colleagues at Willmott Dixon for hosting such a valuable and insightful visit, and to Georgia Wilde for encouraging her learners to take full advantage of this opportunity to explore potential career pathways.

We’re excited to share a fantastic Business Administration Apprenticeship with Mathias & Sons, a growing, family run business based in Avonmouth.

🔹 Salary: £18,720 per year
🔹 Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
🔹 Qualification: Business Administrator Level 3
🔹 Start date: June 2026
