Weston College UAL Foundation Diploma Welcome to the page of the exciting and fast-paced one-year UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, at Weston College. What will I do on this course?

In the first term of this exciting and fast-paced UAL Foundation Diploma you will look at different disciplines within art and design, whilst developing core drawing and research skills. During the second and third terms you will specialise by choosing from a range of subjects including:

* Fine Art (painting, sculpture, printmaking)
* Fashion and Surface Design
* Graphic Design
* Illustration
*

Photomedia (photography, film, animation)
* Theatre Costume
* Three Dimensional Design (interior, product and theatre design)

How will I be assessed? External Moderators and our highly experienced Subject Specific Tutors will assess your practical projects in studios, workshops and written assignments throughout the course. Where can this course take me? Next step courses/Apprenticeships:
* A Foundation Degree (FdA) in Graphic Design, Film, Photography Practice or Contemporary Art and Professional Studies and then the relevant Honours top-up. These are all based at Weston College in partnership with Bath Spa University
* Other related national/international degree level courses. Job/career opportunities:

The studios are buzzing with the sounds of printing, ripping, sticking, cutting, sewing, hammering, drilling, hairdrying and shouts of "where's the blue tac?" and "you're not allowed up the ladders!" Weston College Presents Aleatory 2025! Please come and see the UAL Foundation and Extended Diploma's work at the Island gallery space Bristol. Two weeks, two words, one foot cubed was the brief- and the work is so diverse, spanning textiles, print, film, sculpture, illustration, graphics, fashion, ceramics, drawing, photography, you name it! Private view is 6pm to 9pm Tuesday 25th Feb, and the exhibition is open Wednesday 26th February- Saturday 1st march, 11am to 4pm. See you there!

Gestural life drawing today- using varied and exciting mark making with cardboard, sponge, sticks and ink as tools. These quick sketches saw the students taking lots of risks and fully pushing the boundaries of such simple materials. Life drawing is such a skill to have and we relish these opportunities we give our students on the UAL Foundation and the Yr 2 Extended Diploma here at Weston College

Here's a few explorations happening in our studios, as students are creatively interpreting their research into artwork spanning fashion, sculpture, installation, painting, illustration, print, interiors, photography, film, you name it! Spaces available for this September, come and visit us at Loxton Campus w-s-m. See what the UAL Foundation Diploma and year two UAL Extended Diploma are up to and our fantastic workshops- where the magic happens!
