Aimie Bamber was working as a carer and doing youth work at her church when someone suggested she'd make a great counsellor.

She joined the HND Counselling and Applied Psychology course, completing her placement hours at Daylight Counselling in Leigh.

Since coming to the end of her course, Aimee will continue to work for Daylight as an official counsellor and has been given full-time hours for children and youth services in Manchester Diocese.

This week, our Level 1 Sport and Rugby group visited Scotsmanโ€™s flash, where they had the opportunity to try out paddle boarding and kayaking under expert supervision.

They all had a great time getting to socialise outside of the classroom and try something new.

Level 2 students also took to the high ropes at Haigh Woodland Park to test their nerve. With some crazy golf too, it was a great way to get to know each other in a different environment.

This week, the sports department achieved the School Games Gold Mark for the fifth year running. This is brilliant recognition for the continued commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive opportunities for students to take part in sport and physical activity.

Students studying at Parsons Walk, CATS and The Skills Academy can attend the Parsons Walk Campus on Tuesday 8th September.

For Rothwell Group, it's about developing talent, building expertise and creating a workforce for the future.

Rothwell Group currently has six apprentices studying with us and has been a valued employer partner for many years. Their commitment to developing future talent continues, with their latest recruit signing up as an Electrical Apprentice just last week.

Our Adult Enrolment event at Leigh Adult Learning Centre is underway and we love meeting new adult students who are enrolling onto a wide range of courses.

Tonight, we've been busy enrolling at our Wigan Adult Learning Centre.

Stephanie has enrolled on our Level 2 Beauty Therapy with hopes of becoming an expert in nails, lashes and eyebrows. Stephanie said, โ€œI am hoping to build a career where I can work from home which fits around my family and this course will help me do that.โ€

We also welcomed Pauline, who recently took partial retirement and looking forward to studying Sewing and doing something for her which she enjoys. We donโ€™t blame you, Pauline!

Lastly, Tom came to enrol on our Motor Vehicle Engineering course to kick start a career change after recently working with family in the industry.

Our Adult Enrolment event at our Wigan Adult Learning Centre is in full swing!

A big Wigan & Leigh welcome to Dean who has enrolled on Level 2 Counselling this afternoon.

Dean says, โ€œI really want to help others, I have had my own struggles, and I feel I can make a difference. I volunteer at a su***de prevention charity - I am excited to get started on my course.โ€
