What a way to finish an unforgettable journey! ๐ŸŒ

From crossing Victoria Harbour on the iconic Star Ferry to taking the Peak Tram for breathtaking views across the city skyline, our learners made the most of every moment. They explored the vibrant streets and markets of Mong Kok, visited the Hong Kong Visitor Centre, and shared one last meal together before heading to the airport for the journey home.

Over the course of this incredible trip, learners have immersed themselves in new cultures, discovered world-famous tourism destinations, and built confidence navigating public transport across multiple countries.

Now it's time to bring those experiences back into the classroom, turning memories into learning into future success โœจ

๐ŸŽฌ Industry Insights at the BBC! ๐ŸŽฌ

Recently, our HE Graphic Design students studying on our FdA Creative Industries and BA (Hons) Creative Practitioner programmes visited the BBC at Media City as part of our Greater Manchester Institute of Technology partnership.

Students enjoyed an inspiring session with the BBCโ€™s creative teams, hearing from graphic designers, UX designers and social media specialists, alongside commissioners, directors, managers and engineers from across the organisation.

The session provided valuable insight into a wide range of creative careers, including discussions around employment opportunities, apprenticeships and the transferability of creative skills across different roles and industries.

Students also enjoyed a hands-on tour of the TV and radio studios, getting a behind the scenes look at the environments where some of the BBCโ€™s content is created. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ“ก

A fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with industry professionals, broaden their understanding of creative careers and see their skills in action beyond the classroom.

Our learners have been making the most of an incredible educational visit to Australia, developing confidence, independence and valuable industry knowledge along the way ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

From snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef and exploring Brisbaneโ€™s culture and attractions, to experiencing wildlife care at Australia Zoo and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, every day has brought new opportunities to learn.

๐Ÿจ Our Animal Management learners have gained first-hand insight into animal behaviour, welfare, veterinary care and conservation, while our Travel & Tourism learners have explored visitor experiences, tourism and the role of attractions in promoting education and conservation.

From navigating airports and travelling independently to connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences, this trip is helping our learners build skills, confidence and memories that will last a lifetime.

Our HND International Travel & Tourism Management and HND Animal Management students have been busy down under! ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

Over the past week, students have explored Australiaโ€™s native wildlife at Sydney Zoo, visited the Museum of Sydney and even caught the train to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. ๐Ÿฆ˜

For the next part of the trip, they took in the views on their walk to Echo Point to see the Three Sisters. Our students then enjoyed visiting the iconic Bondi Beach before catching a bus to Coogee Beach!

Next stopโ€ฆthe learners arrived in Cairns. Our groups explored the natural and cultural heritage of the Atherton Tablelands, visiting Danbulla National Park, where they took part in a cultural experience led by Koda, a descendant of the local Indigenous community. They learned about the deep cultural connections between Indigenous Australians and the land, including the importance of native plants, animals and traditional knowledge.

They also enjoyed a swim in the beautiful Lake Eacham, a volcanic crater lake surrounded by rainforest. ๐ŸŒ‹

Our HND Travel & Tourism and Animal Management students have officially started their Australian adventure! ๐Ÿฆ˜ ๐Ÿจ ๐ŸŒ

So far, the group have explored Sydney Harbour, Circular Quay, Manly Beach and Paddy's Market, experiencing the atmosphere, culture and variety that Sydney has to offer.

Our Animal Management students have visited the aquarium, gaining valuable insight into marine life and conservation, while our Travel & Tourism students began working on their research projects focusing on how hotels, accommodation providers and attractions are responding to sustainable tourism practices.

Creative minds on the move ๐Ÿ“ธ

Our FdA Year 1, Year 2 and BA (Hons) Graphic Design and Foundation Art students recently spent the day exploring Manchester to gather reference and inspiration for their upcoming projects.

The day started by taking in the city's street design, architecture and textures, then on to a visit to Manchester Art Gallery where our students discussed themes of Death, Morality and Fear in painting, before finishing the day in the Northern Quarter with visits to UNITOM and Fred Aldous.

Aimie Bamber was working as a carer and doing youth work at her church when someone suggested she'd make a great counsellor.

She joined the HND Counselling and Applied Psychology course, completing her placement hours at Daylight Counselling in Leigh.

Since coming to the end of her course, Aimee will continue to work for Daylight as an official counsellor and has been given full-time hours for children and youth services in Manchester Diocese.
