The Modern History Research Centre at the University of Wi******er in partnership with Wi******er Discovery Centre are happy to welcome you to the ‘People on the Move: A History of Modern Migration’ exhibition, which is on display at the Discovery Centre's Wall Space from the 1st to the 31st March 2018. This exhibition highlights current investigations taken by early-career researchers from different universities around the country. The panels explore historical perspectives, experiences and events linked to migration and communities in modern history across different countries.

We are excited to announce that this Thursday we will be hosting two exiciting events. At 12 noon Professor Markus Wien (American University in Bulgaria) will be speaking on the ‘Redefinition of Jewish Group Identities in Bulgaria after 1878’. We are happy to share the page promoting our colleague's Louise Curth's Inaugural Lecture. All welcome!

Join us next Thursday the 27th for an Inaugural Lecture by Louise Hill Curth, the University's Professor of Medical History.

Professor Hill Curth specialises in Early Modern English medical history, with a focus on the health and illness of animals. Her inaugural lecture will show how Early Modern medical beliefs and practices were based on ancient Greek ideas. She will examine why animal health care not only existed but thrived in the ‘pre-scientific’ period before the founding of England’s first veterinary college in 1791.
