I can’t be the only one right?

It’s August, the weather changed and my brain said ‘right, it’s Christmas next’! 🤯

My client had gone softer and more lived-in, but is a blonde at heart and wanted to feel brighter and blonde again - but keep the regrowth soft.

Not a full head.
Not a harsh grow out.
Just brighter, with a seamless blend so her colour still grows out softly.

This kind of blonde is what I call a low-maintenance blonde.

The goal was “i want to feel blonde, i want to feel like me again” but “i want a soft grow out”

When people ask how I’ve managed to get my hair this long, it is not one product.

The oil is just the finishing step.

The real change was that I finally started listening to the advice I give out all the time.

🌱 Looking after my scalp properly.
🌱 Being gentler when I brush.
🌱 Using heat protection.
🌱 Protecting my hair at night.
🌱 Fully drying it after washing.
🌱 Not doing everything perfectly, but doing the simple things consistently.

My scalp reset ritual has been a big part of that for me.

Not because it is fancy or complicated, but because it reminds me to start where healthy hair starts.

I think sometimes we focus so much on the ends looking better that we forget the scalp needs care too.

So, it wasn’t a one magic oil or one miracle product.

It was finally giving my own hair the same kind of care I ask you to give yours.

One of my favourite things is when hair becomes part of the plan, not another thing on your list.

This guest was heading to away with the kids for a few days, so we did what we often do before a festival, event or holiday.

Clip-in extensions for a little extra fullness, then a soft plaited style designed to hold for the first few days of the trip.

Because when you are travelling with children, settling in, finding your way around and trying to actually enjoy the moment, it is really lovely when your hair is already sorted.

No morning styling panic.
No “I wish I’d done something with my hair.”
Just a style that feels pretty, practical and very her.

And extensions do not always have to be permanent.

Sometimes they are just there to make a special few days feel easier.

You’ve spent time styling your hair only to find, that when you walk out the door, all your hard work has undone and the curls have all dropped out.

The trick that not really a trick - let you hair cool down. The easiest way to do this is adjust the order you get ready in:

The order I follow that takes 0 extra time but my curls last:
🌱 style hair
🌱 do make up (if I’m doing it)
🌱 get dressed
🌱 dress hair out
🌱 hairspray & perfume.

Same routine, different order, longer lasting curls.

To learn these curls head to my style guide link and just into quick and easy to follow styles and the collection grows with you as the months go on.

How and when is the best time to apply your thermal protection?

To me the best time to apply is at the wet stage, this is because a thermal protection will be able to protect against the heat of your dryer and your hot tools.

How to apply is also important because so often only the top layer is applied too. Make sure you’re lifting and applying to the under layers too. Split from ear to ear and then temple to temple and brush through to ensure even distribution.

What should we discuss next?

Q: what’s better - letting your hair dry naturally or to use your hairdryer?

Well this question is a big one because there are pro’s and cons in both directions. But, personally, I recommend drying your hair because it is better for your hair AND your scalp.

But leaving your hair in a damp/wet state for too long actually weakens your hair because the outer layer (protective layer) softens and weakens and takes 24-48 hours to reharden - so for the next 48 hours, your hair is more susceptible to damage and stresses.

However, drying your hair without a thermal protection, is also incredibly dmamaging, so make sure you protect your hair from heat sources.

Hope this helps you choose the best and healthiest option for your hair and scalp.

When should you apply your hair products? Dripping wet or part dried?

The best time is post towel drying (squeezing) because the hair is evenly damp and the products will distribute evenly.

Too wet will water the product down too much, and part blasted will create dry pockets where the product will cling/grab and become overloaded in that area vs the damp areas.

Also, unless it’s a scalp specific product, avoid applying to your root or scalp area, apply mid lengths to ends and brush through to distribute evenly.
