Yesterday, the History & Politics department had the privilege of listening to the powerful testimony of John Hajdu MBE, a survivor of the Holocaust in Hungary.

Hearing John's personal experiences brought history to life in a deeply moving and memorable way, reminding us all of the importance of understanding the past and standing against intolerance in the present.

Students were engaged, reflective and inspired by his story — an experience they will not forget.

We are proud to announce that our History & Politics department has been successful in its application to become a UCL Holocaust Beacon School, a prestigious programme led by the Centre for Holocaust Education at University College London.

On completion in June 2027, it will place the College among a select group of institutions nationally acknowledged for excellence in Holocaust education. Beacon Schools are chosen through a competitive process and are committed to delivering high-quality, research-informed teaching while promoting best practice within the wider educational community.

As part of the programme, we will gain access to specialist training, academic research, and a network of leading educators, further enriching teaching and learning.
