Good news to start a new week! 👇

We're delighted to share that our final Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award of the academic year 2025/26 goes to our postgraduate student, Alexis, for "Outstanding Postgraduate Student Contribution to EDI through Organisations" in the category of inclusivity and access. 👏

Alexis has been a positive and active presence within the student community and the School for Business and Society's EDI committee was very impressed by Alexis's continued commitment to EDI through her role as our local CIPD Student Representative and as a student on our MSc Human Resource Management programme.

Congratulations once again, Alexis, on behalf of the EDI Committee at the School for Business and Society at York! 🎉

Meet Cameron and Hayden. 👋

They’ve been studying for an MSc in International Business at York, and have spent this summer on a work-based, applied dissertation - working on a live consultancy project for a specialist insurance company in the City of London. 🚀

The School for Business and Society’s work-based, applied dissertation is the closest our courses come to the real world, so join Cameron and Hayden as they travel down to London to meet the client and spend a day inside the industry they’ve been studying and working with.

Cameron summed up the experience by saying: “This project was the perfect bridge between graduating and landing a graduate job - real-world experience I’d never had before. It’s given me so much confidence and, honestly, it’s been the best part of the whole Masters degree.”

A free online seminar series connecting the Student-Managed Investment Fund community - on investment, education and SMIF practice - hosted in partnership with the Griff Investment Fund.

SMIFs are a unique form of experiential learning. There are now hundreds of SMIFs around the world, but few opportunities for people involved in different funds to meet, exchange ideas and learn from one another.

A new academic year and a new ranking to be proud of! ✨

The School for Business and Society has placed 2nd in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027 for the subject of Social Work. This ranking recognises the quality of our courses and the experiences and opportunities they provide to our students. 🎉
