🎭⚔️ STAGE COMBAT & HIGHER EDUCATION INSIGHTS! ⚔️🎭

A huge thank you to Caroline Rees and Tom Osbourne from UC Leeds Performing Arts for visiting York College today to work with our Level 3 Acting students! 🌟

Our students had a fantastic opportunity to explore their future progression routes into Higher Education, ask questions about studying a Performing Arts degree and gain valuable insight into the next steps of their training. 🎓✨

The visit also included an exciting, hands-on stage combat workshop, where students explored how to create convincing theatrical illusions safely on stage! 🎬💥

A particular highlight was learning how to make it look like they were pulling out an eyeball! 👀😱 Safe to say, the students absolutely loved that one!

It's brilliant to see our students gaining new skills, building confidence and feeling even more informed and prepared to make decisions about their futures.

Last Friday, our Level 3 Acting students had the fantastic opportunity to take part in an exciting workshop with Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts

An inspiring experience for our students to develop their performance skills, explore new creative approaches and gain valuable insight into training and progression within the performing arts industry.

Opportunities like these are a brilliant way to build confidence, challenge creativity and inspire our students as they take their next steps towards a career in the industry! 🎬👏

An Inspiring Visit from the World of Alan Ayckbourn!

A huge thank you to Simon Murgatroyd, archivist to the legendary playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn, for delivering such an insightful and engaging talk about Alan’s extraordinary life, career and contribution to British theatre.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of one of Britain’s most celebrated playwrights, discovering more about the stories, inspiration and creative process behind his remarkable body of work. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with the real world of theatre and gain inspiration from such a rich theatrical legacy!

🏆 Introducing the Alan Ayckbourn Prize!

We’re delighted to announce the launch of the Alan Ayckbourn Prize, which will be awarded to one of our students at the end of the academic year in recognition of their achievements and contribution to their studies.

The prize will include:

A signed copy of an Alan Ayckbourn book
£100 in theatre tokens
£100 in book tokens

A fantastic opportunity to celebrate the next generation of theatre-makers, encourage a love of live performance and literature, and inspire our students to continue developing their creativity and passion for the industry.

Thank you again to Simon for sharing his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with our students. We look forward to seeing which student will take home this fantastic prize at the end of the year!
