The YSJ Big Summer Read is back for 2026, and we couldn't be more excited to get stuck in with two new books. 🌞 Our Literature Department invites staff, students, alumni, and future students to read together across twelve weeks, sharing insights and thoughts along the way.

We'll be reading Hex House by Amy Jane Stewart, and Featherfall by Jerry Ibbotson. To get involved, all you need to do is pick up a copy and start reading. See below our key reading dates for both books. πŸ‘‡

In a brand new documentary project, acclaimed director and YSJ academic Tracy Willits and her team, including students from YSJ, are following England's Veteran Over 75s football team, the Silver Lions, as they journey to the England v Germany game which will mark the 1966 World Cup anniversary.

On 29 June, this specialist session will showcase research findings from Education, Psychology, Arts and Occupational Therapy experts based on their work with students, teachers, parents, and educational institutions. They'll present their findings on four themes:

- Preparing school students for active citizenship
- Eliminating barriers to and reforming toilet access in schools: a public health case
- Working with neurodivergent pupils to enhance transition, belonging and attendance in mainstream secondary schools
- Enabling access to music education through cross-sector collaboration
