CIE is a non-profit organization funded by “Open Society – Georgia Foundation”, Open Society Institute and US Department of State. Kutaisi office is a standard center serving as reference point for getting open and free access to current, accurate, comprehensive and unbiased information and consultancy services on educational opportunities in the USA and worldwide. It provides regularly-scheduled
introductory public orientations on U.S. study, individual and group advising, information on financial aid, pre-departure information/orientations and other topics based on EducationUSA’s “Your 5 Steps to U.S. Study.” The Center Offers virtual advising through email, the EducationUSA website, Skype, webinars, video conferencing, locally preferred social media and/or other platforms. In addition to this, it provides internet access for college search and an up-to-date library to help students prepare for standardized tests like TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, IELTS. The Center participates in educational fairs by hosting an EducationUSA booth. CIE-Kutaisi staff conducts outreach to local high schools, higher education institutions and American Spaces around the Imereti region. In order to assist develop English language skills among young people, the center provides English-speaking environment for young citizens of Georgia, offering American/English movie nights with films in academic settings and a space to prepare information and present to their peers about American education and culture.
