Personal narratives, testimonies, and artistic expressions come together to explore various aspects of identity and belonging - from the surreal uprooting of ancient trees to the confrontation of a ‘place to be’ and ‘non-places’, from self-discovery and transformation of family values and a concept of home to the challenges of migration and displacement, from the pursuit of utopia to the sense of self and interconnectedness. The exhibition room is a communication space where moving images and artistic conversations invite viewers to reflect on the complexities of human experiences and the search for meaning in the contemporary world.

Analog AI - AI ექსპერიმენტი, რომელიც იკვლევს ტრავმირებული ადამიანის გამოცდილებებს. Ის მნახველებს აძლევს საშუალებას დაინახონ და განიცადონ ინტერაქციული ცუფრული ადამიანის ტრავმული გამოცდილება.
Ნინო გორგაძის (Himiko) ლეპიდოპტერა გამოხატავს ადამიანური ბუნებისა და აღქმების ორსახოვნებას. Ზოგჯერ ადამიანები მეტ ყურადღებას აქცევენ იმ ნაკლოვანებებს საკუთარ თავში, რომელიც ჩანს წინა პლანზე, მაგრამ გამორჩებათ ის მშვენიერება, რომელსაც შეიძლება სხვები მათ მიღმა ხედავდნენ. Media Art community weekend BYOB is opening today at 7PM!
Artworks include:

Analog AI, an original AI experiment exploring the thought process of a traumatized person. It proposes visitors to immerse into the internal states of an interactive digital human who is experiencing trauma.

Nino Giorgadze’s (Himiko) Lepidoptera demonstrates the nature of duality, and duality of perspectives. Sometimes what’s more visible is concentration on dire qualities whereas the whole specter of beauty is hidden behind. Installation is an invitation to ascend and overcome the shadows.

Touchbleton - an audiovisual installation by Ambavicreators. It allows anyone to create music with body movement, without any hearing or musical education.

Luka Papashvili’s augmented interactive installation where participants can use their hands to interact with the visual environment, in this case, a geomorphic shape generator.

BYOB.extended is a Media Art community event hosted by Bonito Urban Space platform at the Center of Contemporary Art in Tbilisi on April 5-7. It is a showcase of digital art, video art, interactive installations and live audiovisual performances.
Original BYOB exhibition concept by famous artist Rafael Rozendaal is very simple:
1. Find a place
2. Invite many artists
3. Ask them to bring their projectors and show their work.
We want our community event to be accessible, so we improve this format by providing all necessary projection equipment. We also extend possible formats to interactive installations and live audiovisual performances. At the same time, drawing inspiration from the original BYOB exhibition, we do not limit participants to any specific theme or genre. If you are a media artist willing to show your work or willing to participate in a workshop - just fill the form and we will contact you. If you are a visitor - please come at any time during the weekend, meet the artists and explore their works.

There are only two spots remaining for the video art course. Register by March 27th to secure your place.

Our view, our perception of the world is culturally anchored and subjectively characterised.
It is formed from images and sounds: inner, medial, dreamed, fuelled by longings, projections and
surfaces. This entanglement in the question of the position of looking and the resulting personal stance
will provide the course with its content and characterise the artistic exploration.

The course will take place in the project space “Bonito Urban Space” (B_U_S). The purpose of the space
is to develop, realise and link ideas and projects. At this point, the idea of the project space overlaps with
the purpose of the course. After a first step of working together, an “open studio” is planned over the
weekend, which will allow insights into the processual work steps of the projects and promote
communication about them.
In the end, the work will be characterised by finding suitable forms of presentation for the resulting
works, locating them in space and staging an exhibition, which will end with a presentation on 29 March
2024.
The number of participants is limited to 6.

Photo/video equipment is available for use on site.

Duration of the course is 8 meetings within 2 weeks.

Registration for the video art course, titled “Dancing with Myself / II Measuring the Space,” led by Berlin-based artist Ulrich Folster, is open until March 27th.
The course offers comprehensive instruction and hands-on practice in video art techniques.

Our view, our perception of the world is culturally anchored and subjectively characterised.
It is formed from images and sounds: inner, medial, dreamed, fuelled by longings, projections and
surfaces. This entanglement in the question of the position of looking and the resulting personal stance
will provide the course with its content and characterise the artistic exploration.

Dancing with myself / ll Measuring the space

The course begins with positioning yourself in the room. What position do I take in the room? How do I position myself in relation to others in the room? This happens quite unconsciously, directly physically/ practically in life all the time. During the course we will follow this positioning in our daily interactions.
In addition to the private space that immediately surrounds us, we consciously or unconsciously position ourselves in public space. What traces do we leave behind in public space? How big is our geological footprint? How much public space does each of us occupy? Who dominates public space? Inevitably, the political question arises: Who owns the space that surrounds us and who dominates and manipulates it?
Virtual space is taking up more and more space in our lives and is merging with public and private space to create a hybrid form of the viral-spatial that is constantly changing and losing its temporality. Here, too, it is necessary to scrutinise the mechanisms for exercising power and manipulation.
