URGENT STAFF NOTICE: RAIN AND FLOODING SAFETY ALERT.

In light of the ongoing heavy rains and reports of flooding in several areas, the safety and wellbeing of all staff remain our top priority.

We strongly advise that all staff remain where they are. Please do not attempt to leave since the roads are flooded and may put you at risk.

Supervisors are requested to:
• Check on their teams to ensure each team member is safe.
• Provide guidance to staff who may be affected.
• Encourage calm and adherence to safety protocols.

Staff are encouraged to:
• Stay indoors and avoid moving through floodwater.
• Keep in contact with their supervisors or team leads.
• Monitor updates from relevant authorities and the University.

Further guidance will be provided as conditions evolve. In the meantime, please prioritise your personal safety and support one another where possible.

A four-member team of researchers from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing. They came to Ghana for initial fieldwork on a China-Africa Institute Joint Research Project (2025-2027) titled China-Ghana Exchange and Mutual Learning in Ethnic Language and Cultural Preservation Practices led by Prof. Zhao Tianxiao (Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences) and Prof. Clement Kwamina Insaidoo Appah (University of Ghana).
