Today, we celebrate Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, also known as Founder's Day in Ghana. This holiday, which falls on September 21st, commemorates the birthday of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He was a key figure in leading the Gold Coast to independence from Britain and a true architect of modern Ghana.

Happy Founders Day to the Men of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated!

On September 19, 1963 - just four days after the Birmingham, Alabama (USA) church bombing that shook the nation - twelve visionary men gathered at Morgan State College (now Morgan State University) and built something enduring. In a year defined by struggle, they chose to build brotherhood.

Iota Phi Theta officially joined the National Pan-Hellenic Council in 1997, completing the council and strengthening the circle of Black Greek-letter excellence.

Today, as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® celebrates alongside you, we honor 63 years of scholarship, service, and the unshakeable belief that Black men - organized, educated, and committed - are a force for community uplift.

Happy 63rd Founders’ Day!

Special shout out to Iota Phi Theta members on Ghana! 🤎💛🏹🙌🏾💗💚🌸✊🏾🇬🇭

Today is National Voter Registration Day in the United States and for US Citizens living outside of the USA.

Swipe to see why Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated built EMPOWER ‘08 — our nonpartisan, 8-point strategy to remove the barriers keeping our communities from the ballot box and strengthen democracy one voter at a time.

The stakes are clear. Every cycle, eligible voters show up only to find they’ve been purged from the rolls due to a move, a name change, or “routine” maintenance that was anything but. The fix takes two minutes — but only if you do it NOW, not in October. 📌

✅️ Get registered. Get verified. Then empower EIGHT people you already know: your line sisters, your chapter, your church members, the cousin who just turned 18.

✅️ Before Election Day: verify your registration, confirm your polling place and ID, review nonpartisan ballot resources, consider early voting, and mobilize others.

✅️ On Election Day: cast your vote, bring required ID, offer rides, volunteer at the polls.

✅️ After: report turnout, debrief with your chapter, plan ahead, and keep the education going.

Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters, check your email for the message sent last week from our International President and CEO, Charletta Wilson Jacks, with the full EMPOWER ‘08 Voter Empowerment Toolkit and all turnkey resources for registration, civic education, forums, and GOTV.

Every Sister. Every Chapter. Every Community. One Unified Movement. 💗💚✊🏾
