BRIEFING ON ENGAGEMENT WITH THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE (GES)

The National Leadership of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) engaged the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on 1st September, 2026, to advocate for critical concerns regarding the Recruitment and Posting of Trained Teachers. During the engagement, TTAG formally presented its key concerns, including:
1. That the assertion of the Minister of Education be corrected and further, GES prioritizing the absorption of the 2023 recruitment backlog within the approved quota of 16,000 before proceeding sequentially to 2024 cohort.
2. The reinstatement of automatic postings for eligible graduates of the Colleges of Education.
3. The establishment of clear and dedicated recruitment timelines for graduates of the Colleges of Education.

In response, the Director-General affirmed GES’s strong commitment to securing posting opportunities for all eligible teachers from the Colleges of Education. He further indicated that GES would communicate TTAG’s concerns to the Government for consideration.

TTAG will continue its engagements with GES and other relevant stakeholders to advocate for dedicated recruitment opportunities and a clear pathway for the absorption and posting of Trained Teachers from the Colleges of Education.
