🎓 Celebrating the Webster Athens Class of 2026 🎓

Webster Athens proudly celebrated its 2026 Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, May 27, at the Webster Athens Cultural Center, honoring the achievements, dedication and global journeys of this year’s graduates.

The commencement address was delivered by Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Konstantinos Vlasis, who congratulated graduates as they prepare to enter a rapidly evolving global and professional environment.

Among the distinguished guests were Ambassador of Mexico to Greece Alejandro Garcia Moreno Elizondo, Ambassador of Georgia to Greece Levan Beridze and former Secretary General for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad John Chrysoulakis, alongside Webster Athens professors, graduates’ families and friends, all contributing to a memorable and celebratory experience for the Class of 2026.

Global diplomacy became part of student life at during the Spring 2026 Ambassadors Forum, where students engaged directly with ambassadors and diplomatic leaders from Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and the Americas.

Through discussions on regional security, migration, artificial intelligence, energy diplomacy and international cooperation, students gained firsthand insight into diplomacy, leadership and intercultural dialogue beyond textbooks and theory.

Hosted by the Department of History, Politics and International Relations, the annual Forum welcomed ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Armenia, Georgia, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Mexico, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Philippines.

🌍 Philippine Ambassador Discusses Migration Policy at Webster Athens Forum 🇵🇭🇬🇷

Webster Athens is pleased to share the Philippine Embassy Athens post highlighting Ambassador Giovanni E. Palec’s lecture at the Webster Athens Ambassadors Forum titled “Philippine Perspectives on Migration.”

This marked the third consecutive year Ambassador Palec participated in the annual Ambassador Forum Lecture Series, reflecting the strong collaboration between the Philippine Embassy and Webster Athens in promoting dialogue on global affairs, diplomacy, and international cooperation.

During his lecture, Ambassador Palec explored migration from both historical and global perspectives, while presenting the Philippine experience and approach to migrant protection, international cooperation, and foreign policy. He discussed the role of Overseas Filipino Workers worldwide and highlighted the Philippines’ active engagement in international migration initiatives and human rights frameworks.

The discussion strongly resonated with Webster Athens’ international student community, leading to an engaging exchange on migration governance, regional developments, ASEAN affairs, and global diplomacy.

Webster Athens is pleased to share the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Greece, Athens recent post highlighting Ambassador Timur Sultangozhin’s lecture at the Webster Athens Ambassadors Forum.

During his lecture, “Kazakhstan as a Middle Power in a Transforming Global Order,” Ambassador Sultangozhin offered students, faculty, and guests valuable perspectives on Kazakhstan’s international initiatives, constitutional reforms, digital transformation, and its growing role in global diplomacy and regional cooperation.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, the Webster Athens community gathered on campus to celebrate Tsiknopempti, the Greek “Smoky Thursday” tradition of enjoying grilled meats before Lent.

Students, faculty and staff shared an afternoon of music, laughter and souvlaki fresh off the barbecue. Special thanks to Artan Dani Mali from our maintenance team and Rector Vasilis Botopoulos for serving as grill masters.

Monday, Feb. 9 marks the first official global celebration of "World Greek Language Day", following a unanimous decision by the 90 member states of UNESCO to recognize the universal cultural significance of the Greek language. The language has shaped philosophy, science, literature, the arts and democratic thought throughout human history.

At Webster Athens, this day reflects the spirit of our award-winning "Odyssey in Athens" study abroad program, recognized by GoAbroad.com as a Top Study Abroad Program. Rooted in the birthplace of Western civilization, "Odyssey in Athens" offers students a rare opportunity to study Greek language and culture where history and ideas come alive.

The program features accredited, upper-level courses including Greek Mythology, Greek language, Greek art and archaeology and Athenian democracy. Its distinctive curriculum allows students to continue their academic programs, earn college credit and transfer those credits back to their home institutions.

Webster University’s "Odyssey in Athens" program offers students the opportunity to explore and study historic sites in Greece while studying the region’s rich history and culture. Webster Athens is located in the heart of central Athens, footsteps from Plaka, the historic section of Athens at the foothills of Acropolis.

According to Euronews, tributes across Europe mark World Greek Language Day by highlighting Greece’s enduring influence on Western thought and culture.

Monday 9 February marks the inaugural celebration of World Greek Language Day and tributes have been paid from across Europe in recognition of Greece's historical impact on life, literature and thought in Western society.
