Zoi.
My name is Zoi Tserioni, and I completed my undergraduate studies at the Department of Natural Resources Management and Agricultural Engineering at the Agricultural University of Athens. In June 2025, I graduated from the Master’s Program “Digital Technologies and Smart Infrastructure in Agriculture” at the same university.
During my postgraduate studies, I focused mainly on GIS and remote sensing applications in agriculture. The program gave me a strong background in working with satellite imagery, UAV data and geospatial datasets, and in using GIS tools to analyse spatial variability in fields, monitor crop conditions and support data-driven decision making.
Through both theoretical courses and practical lab work, I learned how to process and interpret Earth Observation data, calculate vegetation indices, and combine them with field measurements and farm information in a GIS environment.
This helped me understand how spatial analysis can reveal patterns that are not visible at ground level and how these insights can be used to optimise inputs, improve yields and support more sustainable management of natural resources.
The MSc also helped me enter the professional field of digital and smart agriculture, giving me the opportunity to collaborate with academics, researchers and professionals who work with geospatial technologies and innovation in the agrifood sector. These experiences and connections continue to influence the way I work today.
Overall, this postgraduate program equipped me with a solid scientific background and specialised skills in GIS and remote sensing for agriculture, and it has been a decisive step in my career. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to apply advanced geospatial technologies to sustainable agricultural production.
