On July 6th, 2023, at the Central Hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Rector of the University, Professor Dimopoulos M. A. and Dean of the Law Faculty, Professor Sicilianos L. A. awarded the members of the moot – court competitions for the academic year 2022 – 2023.
Among them, the team for the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens participated with merits in the final round of the Willem C. Vis Moot Court on International Commercial Arbitration, hosted in Vienna, on April 1st – 6th 2023. The team ranked among the top 44% from a total of 372 universities participating worldwide. The moot court covered complex, yet interesting topics of private international law and procedure, international sales law and international arbitration. The team competed in front of Professors of international law, Arbitrators and arbitration practitioners.
The team members were: Marianna Georgiou (Μαριάννα Γεωργίου), Andreas Loumakis (speakers), Panayotis Davakis, Ourania Papadakaki (Rania Papad) (oral arguments and memoranda rounds) and Niki Michou (memoranda round).
Academic supervisors of this moot court are Professors Konstantinos Polyzogopoulos, Charalampos Pampoukis and Anastasios Gourgourinis.
Coaches of this team were Dr Faidon Varesis and Ms Anna Kanaki.

The moot court consists of two rounds, memoranda and oral argumentation. During the written stage (October – January/February), teams are asked to present one memorandum for Claimant and one for Respondent, addressing the Problem’s legal and factual questions. During the oral stage (February – March), the teams represent each side verbally, in front of a panel of arbitrators, in Vienna. The moot court is held entirely in English. Next moot court is announced to be held in Vienna, in March 22nd – 28th.
