📢 SIMOnS Multiplier Event at the University of Patras

On 22 January 2026, the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (CEID) at the University of Patras will host a Multiplier Event of the Erasmus+ project SIMOnS: Students Improvement and Monitoring of Online Skills.

The event will present the project’s outcomes, including the SIMOnS mobile application, and highlight good practices for monitoring and improving students’ digital competencies through presentations and interactive workshops.

SIMOnS is a European Erasmus+ project designed to enhance and monitor students’ digital skills using innovative, interactive, and gamified learning tools.

The 1st Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of the project
“ : Programming, Robotics, and AI Skills for Educators-in-training”
was successfully held on 27 October 2025 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

The PRAISE project focuses on enhancing Programming, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence skills for educators-in-training, contributing to innovation and quality in modern education.

The Sqlab Upatras team from the Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών University of Patras had the pleasure to take part in the 11th IEEE International Smart Cities Conference (ISC2 2025), held on October 6–9 at the University of Patras Conference Center! 🇬🇷

We presented our paper:
🎓 “Immersive Smart Education for Sustainable Urban Mobility: A VR-Based Study on Traffic Systems, EVs, and Sensor-Enabled Crosswalks.”

Our research explores how Virtual Reality (VR) can be used as an innovative tool for education and awareness on sustainable and smart mobility.

It was an inspiring experience full of knowledge exchange, networking, and great discussions with researchers from across the globe!

✨ The GUESS Project is moving forward! ✨
Our team has successfully completed the implementation and testing of the early versions of our gamified 3D Virtual World Learning Environment. Students and educators across Europe explored scenarios such as Lake Lifeline, Desalination Plant, Proper Recycling Practices, and Glimpse into the Future, providing valuable feedback through detailed questionnaires.
📊 Over 120 participants engaged with the platform, helping us refine the usability, engagement, and educational value of the system. Their insights are now shaping the upcoming Beta version of GUESS.
👏 A big thank you to all our partner universities and participants for contributing to this milestone towards environmental sustainability through innovative learning.

🎓 On July 31st, the team of the MSc in Human–Computer Interaction had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Patras.
We were there to congratulate the new graduates and to introduce them to our postgraduate program — a unique opportunity for those interested in UX design, interaction technologies, and user-centered systems.
💡 The MSc in HCI is an interdisciplinary, tuition-free, English-taught program combining technology, design, and human behavior. It is ideal for graduates who wish to explore how humans interact with digital systems and create better user experiences.
