Mε αφορμή την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Αδέσποτων Ζώων και την Πανελλήνια Σχολική Ημέρα Φιλοζωίας (4 Απριλίου 2025), το Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς, διοργανώνει ενημερωτική ημερίδα, την Κυριακή 6 Απριλίου 2025 (ώρες 12.00-17.00) στο Αμφιθέατρο Συνεδρίων στο Κεντρικό κτήριο, με θέμα: «Ενημέρωση και ευαισθητοποίηση για τα ζώα».

Η ημερίδα περιλαμβάνει τρεις θεματικές ενότητες:
• Ιατρική φροντίδα - Υγιεινή - Εκπαίδευση - Συμβίωση - Κακοποίηση ζώων
• Θεραπευτικές ιδιότητες των ζώων
• Δράσεις της πολιτείας

Η ενημέρωση θα γίνει από εκπροσώπους της ιατρικής, εκπαιδευτές ζώων, θεραπευτές και εκπροσώπους της πολιτείας.

Στον προαύλιο χώρο του Πανεπιστημίου μας θα φιλοξενηθούν ζωάκια προς υιοθεσία και θα γίνει συγκέντρωση τροφών και συναφών ειδών, τα οποία θα προσφερθούν στα καταφύγια της περιοχής.

Την Πέμπτη 30 Ιανουαρίου πραγματοποιήθηκε στους χώρους του εμβληματικού St' Nicholas Business Club η η κοπή πίτας των Προγραμμάτων Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών "Ναυτιλία" και "Sustainable Blue Economy" του Τμήμα Ναυτιλιακών Σπουδών Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς του University of Piraeus - Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς. Στην εκδήλωση παρευρέθηκαν μεταξύ άλλων, φοιτητές του MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus, σύσσωμο το διδακτικό και διοικητικό προσωπικό του Προγράμματος, καθώς και εξωτερικοί συνεργάτες και μέλη της Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής.

Το 2024 ήταν μια χρονιά γεμάτη δράσεις, εμπειρίες και επιτυχίες, που έδωσαν στους φοιτητές μας πολύτιμες γνώσεις και ευκαιρίες δικτύωσης. Με τη στήριξη των καθηγητών μας, του διοικητικού προσωπικού και των συνεργατών μας στον ναυτιλιακό χώρο, αλλά πρωτίστως των ίδιων των φοιτητών μας, που με την αφοσίωση και τη συμμετοχή τους, αναδεικνύουν τη δυναμική του προγράμματος, δημιουργήσαμε όμορφες στιγμές που ενισχύουν τη συνοχή της ακαδημαϊκής μας κοινότητας.

Η Διευθύντρια του ΠΜΣ Καθ. Μ. Μποϊλέ και όλοι οι συντελεστές του σας ευχόμαστε καλή χρονιά, με την ευχή το 2025 να είναι μια ακόμα πιο δημιουργική και επιτυχημένη χρονιά!

🚢 Exploring Innovation at MAN Energy Solutions! ⚙️

Our MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus students had the incredible opportunity to visit MAN Energy Solutions Hellas Ltd., where they gained firsthand insights into the evolution of main engine technology and its future pathways. The visit included an engaging company presentation, an in-depth discussion on engine development milestones, and a guided tour of the MAN PrimeServ Academy Piraeus.

A heartfelt thank you to the MAN Energy Solutions team for their warm hospitality and knowledge-sharing. Special appreciation to Mrs. Vasiliki Lagonika for organizing an outstanding visit and providing insightful tours and presentations!

As 2024 winds down, we take a moment to reflect on an incredible year for our MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus program—a year of growth, exploration, and connection. From inspiring moments during our Seminar Series to hands-on learning experiences with visits to leading shipping companies, shipboard visits, and our unforgettable trip to the Netherlands, this year has been nothing short of remarkable.

We celebrated key milestones together at Posidonia 2024, the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair, and our cherished graduation ceremony, all while strengthening bonds at various networking events.

To our students, graduates, faculty, staff, and valued stakeholders: thank you for your unwavering commitment, trust, and energy in making our program a benchmark of excellence!

As part of our MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus Seminar Series, we had the privilege of hosting Capt. Dimitris Mattheou, CEO of Arcadia Shipmanagement Co. Ltd and Aegean Bulk Co. Inc, Chairman of the Green Award Foundation and Founder & President of St' Nicholas Business Club.

Capt. Mattheou delivered an inspiring presentation titled 'ESG in Shipping: Navigating Towards a Sustainable Future.’ Through practical insights and real-world case studies, he highlighted how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are reshaping the maritime industry.

His presentation addressed key topics such as regulatory compliance, meeting stakeholder expectations, and fostering long-term economic resilience. The session was a valuable opportunity for our attendees to gain a deeper understanding of ESG's critical role in promoting sustainable growth and responsible marine stewardship.

🌊 Field Trip to Flisvos Marina: Exploring ESG in Shipping 🌍

On Saturday October 5th the MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus students visited the Flisvos Marina, to learn about the role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in the maritime sector. 🌿⚓

Prof. Theodore Pelagidis, Mrs. Maria L. Karageorgou, ESG Manager and Mr. Spyros Papadatos, Business Development & Marketing Manager of LAMDA Flisvos Marina S.A., introduced the students to real-world solutions and challenges, in sustainable port management and reducing carbon footprint. 🌱

💡 The students also explored the marina’s initiatives in eco-friendly operations and community engagement, emphasizing the importance of responsible modern business practices. 📊🌍

This hands-on experience highlights the commitment of our program to shaping future leaders ready to tackle the evolving ESG landscape in global shipping. 💼🔍

On Tuesday October 1st we proudly welcomed the new cohort of graduate students in the MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus and “Sustainable Blue Economy” Programs to their academic home at the University of Piraeus - Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς. The Induction Ceremony, led by Prof. Maria Boile, Director of the MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus, and Prof. Fani Sakellariadou, Director of the MSc in Sustainable Blue Economy provided an inspiring introduction to the Programs’ culture, values and expectations. Students had the opportunity to meet faculty, academic and industry advisors, administrative staff, and esteemed alumni. Together, we embark on a transformative journey of growth, learning and collaboration. Here’s to a successful and exciting year ahead!

🌍 MSc in Shipping Educational Trip: A Journey Through the Port of Rotterdam 🚢

As part of our 2024 educational trip, our students celebrated World Maritime Day with a special tour of the Port of Rotterdam, one of the busiest and most innovative ports in the world! 🎉🚢

The day began with a guided boat tour on the Rederij Thalassa, led by Green Award Foundation’s Jan Fransen and Keita Shinohara. 🌿 The Thalassa, recently awarded the Green Award Binnenvaart Gold Certificate, highlights the industry's dedication to sustainability after a remarkable engine room renovation. 🌱⚓

Students gained insights into the port's energy transition, maritime safety, and sustainability initiatives. A stop at RDM Rotterdam, a hub of innovation, included an inspiring presentation by the Green Award team on ship certification and environmental stewardship. 💚

Prof. Fani Sakellariadou, a specialist in geochemistry in oceanography, shared insights on the environmental impacts of shipping, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices. 🌍🌊

Prof. Maria Boile, Director of MSc in Shipping, University of Piraeus, also contributed her expertise on the role of research and innovation in maritime transport. As the coordinator of the Waterborne Technology Platform, she emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving future maritime solutions. 📚⚙️

In recognition of their participation, our students received certificates from the Green Award Foundation for their involvement in presentations on Green Award certification and the Environmental Ship Index (ESI). 🎓🏅

A special thanks to Jan Fransen, Keita Shinohara, Rita Abiodun, and the entire Green Award Foundation team for their insights and warm hospitality, as well as to the crew and captain of Rederij Thalassa. 🚢👏
