The MSc in Energy: Strategy, Law & Economics of the University of Piraeus - Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς was delighted to host two highly insightful Expert Talks in Energy, connecting our students with leading professionals at the forefront of energy policy, corporate strategy, innovation, and market transformation.
We had the pleasure of hosting Nikos Kakardakos, Founder and CEO of MERIT Consulting House, who delivered a forward-looking lecture on “Bridging Policy, Innovation and Markets in the Energy Transition.” With more than twenty years of experience in strategic advisory, sustainable development, infrastructure, innovation, and public policy, Mr. Kakardakos shared powerful insights into how policy frameworks, technological innovation, investment priorities, and market dynamics must come together to accelerate the energy transition.
We also warmly welcomed Konstantinos I. Chatzifotis, EU Affairs Manager at Motor Oil Group, who delivered an excellent lecture on “Green Energy Policy in the EU: The Case of Motor Oil.” Drawing on his extensive experience across European institutions, national government, and the energy sector, Mr. Chatzifotis offered our students a valuable inside view of how EU green policy, regulation, funding instruments, and corporate strategy interact in practice. His contribution highlighted how major energy companies navigate the green transition, align with European priorities, and transform policy challenges into strategic opportunities.
Both sessions offered our students a unique opportunity to move beyond theory and engage with the real forces shaping the future of energy: regulation, investment, innovation, competitiveness, and strategic transformation.
We warmly thank Mr. Kakardakos and Mr. Chatzifotis for their valuable contributions, as well as our students for their active participation and thoughtful questions.
