The HEROES project final meeting may be over but the journey to advanced rehabilitation robotics for Greek and patients is just beginning. DAY 10 - Introducing Heroes Project !

The “Human Extremity Robotic Rehabilitation and Outcome Enhancement for Stroke” (HEROES) project aims to investigate and promote neuroplasticity after chronic stroke with severe motor disability. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to reorganize and regain function and we use the interface between man and machine to achieve that. The project includes non-invasive technologies and the long-term goal is to use them as tools for successful clinical rehabilitation of post-stroke patients.

The power may have gone out, but the excitement was electric at the 12th Students Scientific Conference of the Medical School AUTH!⚡️🎉 The project stunned the audience with cutting-edge research on the design and development of a wearable exoskeletal device for neural rehabilitation of the human hand.

Despite the darkness, our talented Ph.D. candidate, Vicky Fiska, lit up the stage with her presentation and showed us all how to handle a challenging situation with poise and professionalism! 🌟🦸‍♀️ We can't wait to see what other incredible feats will achieve in the future.

Exciting news! 🎉 The project, funded by Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Έρευνας & Καινοτομίας - ΕΛΙΔΕΚ, will be participating in the 12th Students Scientific Conference of the Medical School AUTH 👨‍🔬👩‍🔬

Today, 15/3 at the II Amphitheater of ΚΕ.Δ.Ε.Α. Α.Π.Θ., from 13:00 to 14:00, our talented Ph.D. candidate, Vicky Fiska, will be presenting her innovative research on the design and development of a wearable exoskeletal device for neural rehabilitation of the human hand. 💪🧠 The device utilizes soft robotics actuation and multisensory data acquisition, paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in the field of rehabilitation.

We can't wait to see the presentation and hear more about this cutting-edge research! 🤩

🎉We are thrilled to announce that the project, funded by the HFRI - Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation, has achieved a major milestone! 📝Kostas Mitsopoulos, Vicky Fiska, Alkinoos Athanasiou, and the entire , research team have published the first journal paper titled "NeuroSuitUp: System Architecture & Validation of a Motor Rehabilitation Wearable Robotics & Serious Game Platform" in the prestigious journal Sensors MDPI.

👏Congratulations to our very own Kostas Mitsopoulos for his incredible accomplishment as the first author of the paper, which has an impact factor of 3.847! This publication represents the remarkable work of the project. The project through wearable robotics, brain-machine interaction, the use of a virtual environment, and serious gaming aims to improve the neurorehabilitation outcomes of patients with chronic stroke and motor disability.

💡We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the HFRI - Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (Ελληνικό Ίδρυμα Έρευνας & Καινοτομίας - ΕΛΙΔΕΚ) and our scientific supervisor, Professor, Panagiotis Bamidis for their invaluable support and guidance throughout this project.
