Yesterday we were pleased to welcome students and academic staff from the National University of Kharkiv, Ukraine, to Thessaloniki for the University of York Europe Campus Summer School Programme, "Neuroscience in Action: From Wellbeing to Persuasion and Consumer Insight,” delivered and hosted by the University of York Europe Campus, and supported by the University of York under its social responsibility framework.
Dr. Nikos Tsorakidis, Deputy Vice-President for External Engagement and Partnerships, addressed the participants at the opening of the session.
We sincerely would like to thank Dr. Yevhen Shkvyra, General Consul of Ukraine in Thessaloniki, for his warm welcome to the participants. The programme opened with an insightful session by Dr. Kalliopi Megari on and Positive , setting the tone for an engaging academic week in Thessaloniki. The Summer School is supported by our Career, Employability & Enterprise Centre.

Read in today’s article in Voria.gr about how our research centre the South-East European Research Centre - SEERC within the framework of the European project CLARIFAI, contributes to the development of innovative tools shaping the future of responsible innovation. In this context, Dr. Simos Veloudis will lead a hands-on workshop in June in Thessaloniki introducing Tau20, an AI tool that evaluates the social and environmental impact of startups. The initiative brings together research, entrepreneurship and impact-driven innovation in practice.

🧠 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀
Over two inspiring days, students, academics and professionals came together to explore the many dimensions of neuroscience through the complementary fields of Neuromarketing and Neuropsychology, organised by the Business School, and the Psychology Department, respectively.
From understanding consumer behaviour and decision-making to examining neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, the event showcased how neuroscience is shaping both business practice and psychological science.

Our Psychology Department recently welcomed Mr Alexandros Kyriazis, Clinical Neuropsychologist and President of the Hellenic Neuropsychological Society (HNPS), for a webinar on “From Assessment to Rehabilitation: Clinical Decision-Making in Executive Function Rehabilitation.” The session explored executive dysfunction, evidence-based rehabilitation approaches, and the emerging role of Virtual Reality and AI in neurorehabilitation. We would like to warmly thank Mr Kyriazis for sharing his valuable insights.

As part of their clinical training, Dr. Kalliopi Megari, Programme Lead of our Postgraduate Programme in Clinical Psychology, and the programme’s students visited the IOKASTI Boarding House for psychiatric patients. During the visit, students had the valuable opportunity to interact with residents and conduct clinical interviews under the supervision of Dr. Megari, gaining first-hand experience in a real-world clinical setting.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Maria Sofologi and Ms. Afroditi Kamari, heads of the facility, for their warm hospitality and invaluable support in making this educational experience possible.

We are delighted to share that Dr Eirini Kelmali, Assistant Professor in our Humanities Department, was invited to deliver a guest lecture to graduate students in the Global Health Programme at Koç University. Her presentation, “Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis for Evidence-Based Medicine: A Practical Guide,” explored key methodologies underpinning evidence-based medicine, drawing on both academic expertise and practical research experience. The session reflects the University of York Europe Campus’s ongoing commitment to international academic collaboration and global scholarly exchange.
