Still spellbound by an extraordinary evening of music at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre!

It was a true privilege to witness the brilliant Colleen Lee @ breathe life into Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on the historic 1849 Érard piano—perfectly channeling the dramatic energy of Berlioz's "possessed piano" legend. The performance reached new heights as she transitioned seamlessly to the poetic beauty of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.

Bravo and huge congratulations to conductor Johnny M. P**n, Colleen Lee, and Collegium Musicum Hong Kong for an absolutely unforgettable night.

Huge congratulations to our part-time lecturer, Tsui Chin Hung , for winning Best Arranger at the prestigious Golden Melody Awards (GMA)!

Presented by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture, the GMA is recognized as the highest honor in the Chinese-speaking music industry—frequently referred to as the "Grammy Awards" of the region. Chin Hung was honored for his exceptional co-arrangement on the track "銀色荒原" alongside 裘德.

This incredible achievement highlights the caliber of talent, dedication, and industry-leading expertise our instructors bring to our students. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with him!

🎼Stop wondering “Why doesn’t my choir sound like that?” and Step Up to the Podium.

If you’ve ever sat in an audience wondering how a conductor achieves that effortlessly rich, blended, and resonant sound, you aren’t alone. Achieving a truly beautiful choral tone isn’t a matter of luck—it’s a direct result of the techniques you bring to the podium and the vocal habits you instill in your ensemble.

To truly bridge the gap between score study and live performance, apply for our Conducting Fellow (With Podium Time) track. If you have prior choral conducting experience, this is your space to step up, refine your gesture, and receive live, active coaching from our world-class faculty:

⭐Dr. Jamie Hillman (Elmer Iseler Chair in Conducting & Associate Professor, University of Toronto)
⭐Dr. Po-Kwan Law (Senior Lecturer, Academy of Music, Hong Kong Baptist University)

📅 Dates: 10–11 July & 14–19 July 2026
📍 Venue: Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, HKBU

🎹 The Possessed Piano: Ever heard of a piano going literally insane?

Before the modern Steinway ruled the stage, there was the Érard—and on June 24, its legendary 1849 grand piano model makes its historic Hong Kong debut. This isn’t just a concert; it’s a night of Gothic madness, historical secrets, and a thrilling battle of the pianos featuring renowned pianist Colleen Lee, conductor Johnny P**n, and the Collegium Musicum Hong Kong.

The evening will kick off with the cinematic, storm-swept waves of Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, setting a dramatic backdrop for a concert unlike any other.

Throughout the evening, you will witness two distinct eras collide in one epic musical narrative. First, Colleen Lee will step up to tame a magnificent 1849 Érard grand piano—the legendary instrument behind Berlioz’s “possessed piano” horror story—as she brings Mendelssohn’s electric Piano Concerto No. 1 to life with authentic, raw 19th-century grit.

Then, the sonic landscape will shift entirely as she commands the sleek, modern power of a Steinway to unleash Beethoven’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 4.

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness a true masterclass in musical time travel, unfolding right before your eyes.
