🎓海外科研實習計劃2026系列 之 第3篇
✈️ 澳洲新南威爾斯大學悉尼分校轄下喬治全球健康研究院

許泳霖同學（物理治療學（榮譽）理學士三年級）成功獲甄選參加康復治療科學系本科生海外研究獎學金計劃（GURSS），並於澳洲新南威爾斯大學悉尼分校轄下喬治全球健康研究院完成為期五週的科研實習。

實習期間，她加入肌肉骨骼研究團隊，參與多項研究項目，深入了解疼痛相關研究，並累積了寶貴的科研實踐經驗。透過參與文獻分析及研究工作，她進一步認識科研如何轉化為臨床實踐及健康政策，為改善大眾健康帶來影響。

🎓 2026 Overseas Research Attachment Series #3
✈️ The George Institute for Global Health, UNSW Sydney

Hui Hannah Winglam (Year 3, BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy) was successfully selected for the RS Global Undergraduate Research Studentship Scheme (GURSS) and completed a five-week research attachment with the musculoskeletal team at The George Institute for Global Health, UNSW Sydney.
During her attachment, Hannah joined the Musculoskeletal Research Team, where she contributed to a range of research projects and gained valuable hands-on research experience. Through her involvement in literature reviews and research activities, she developed a deeper understanding of pain-related research and learned how scientific evidence can be translated into clinical practice and health policy to improve public health outcomes.
This meaningful overseas experience has strengthened Hannah’s interest in research and inspired her to continue exploring how her future work can contribute to others. Let’s take a look at her memorable research journey in Sydney! ✨

恭喜物理治療學校友陳效民（Matthew）！Matthew的追夢之路充滿挑戰，他曾歷經學業挫折與人生低谷，但憑著不屈不撓的精神，最終成功修畢雙碩士學位，如願成為物理治療師。

入行以來，Matthew 始終心繫社會。為填補本地水療資源的短缺，他創辦了配備全港首個國際級水療池的治療中心，致力協助柏金遜症患者改善活動能力，並為本地運動員提供專業的復康治療。

Matthew 逆境自強的故事，完美展現了理大社群堅韌不拔的精神。讓我們一起祝賀他，期盼他繼續在專業領域發光發亮，造福社會！❤️

【PolyU Alumnus Honoured in Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection 2026】

Congratulations to our Physiotherapy alumnus, Matthew Chan Hau Man! Matthew’s journey to pursue his dreams was filled with challenges. Despite facing academic setbacks and low points in life, his unwavering perseverance drove him to successfully complete his dual Master's degrees and realise his dream of becoming a physiotherapist.

Since entering the profession, Matthew has always kept the community close to his heart. To address the shortage of local hydrotherapy resources, he founded a treatment centre equipped with Hong Kong’s first international-standard hydrotherapy pool. The centre is dedicated to helping Parkinson’s patients improve their mobility, as well as providing professional rehabilitation therapy for local athletes.

Matthew’s inspiring story of overcoming adversity perfectly embodies the resilient spirit of the PolyU community. Let us join together in congratulating him, and we wish him continued success in the field of physiotherapy as he continues to benefit society! ❤️

✈️ 澳洲悉尼大學

張偉業同學（職業治療學（榮譽）理學士四年級）成功獲甄選參加康復治療科學系本科生海外研究獎學金計劃（GURSS），並於澳洲悉尼大學肌肉骨骼研究中心（Musculoskeletal Research Hub）完成為期五週的科研實習。

在這趟科研旅程中，他與來自不同專業背景的研究人員合作，透過共同探討研究課題，他深入了解了不同學科的思維模式與研究方法。他亦體會到跨專業協作的重要性，學習如何結合各領域的專長，共同推動研究發展。

✈️ The University of Sydney

Cheung Wai Yip (Ray) (Year 4, BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy) was successfully selected for the RS Global Undergraduate Research Studentship Scheme (GURSS) and completed a five-week research attachment at the Musculoskeletal Research Hub, The University of Sydney.

Throughout the attachment, Ray worked alongside researchers from a wide range of professional backgrounds. Through discussions, he gained valuable insights into different disciplinary perspectives and research approaches. He also developed a deeper appreciation for the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and learned how diverse expertise can be brought together to advance research outcomes.

This experience provided him with first-hand exposure to the collaborative culture of an international research environment, broadened his academic horizons, and enabled him to build meaningful connections with fellow researchers. Tsang Chun Ho (Sunny) (Year 3, BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy) was successfully selected for the RS Global Undergraduate Research Studentship Scheme (GURSS) and completed a six-week research attachment at The University of Sydney, where he gained hands-on experience across a range of research projects.

Stepping beyond his comfort zone and into a new research environment overseas, Sunny not only strengthened his research skills but also had the opportunity to engage with researchers from diverse backgrounds through both academic and social activities. The supportive and inclusive atmosphere, together with inspiring conversations with researchers, broadened his perspectives on research, learning, and future career development.

This valuable experience has encouraged Sunny to become more inquisitive in his studies at PolyU RS and has sparked a stronger interest in exploring new research ideas and opportunities. 🎉 Mentorship Programme 2026–2028 Kick-off Reception Successfully Held

The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at PolyU, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Sciences Alumni Association (RSAA), successfully hosted the Mentorship Programme 2026–2028 Kick-off Reception on 15 October 2026.

We were honoured to welcome Mr Dominic Tse, Vice President (Communications) of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations; Prof Marco Pang, Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences; Ms Eva Chun, President of RSAA; and Mr Matthew Chan, our alumnus recently recognised as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons. Together with more than 70 faculty members, alumni, mentors and mentees, they joined us in celebrating the launch of this meaningful programme.

Our heartfelt thanks to all guests and participants for their enthusiastic support and engagement. We look forward to an inspiring two-year journey of mentorship, learning and connection, fostering growth and lasting friendships within the PolyU RS community. 💬🤝
