Join us for the launch of Professor Susanne Choi’s new book, Q***r Resistance: Contesting State, Family, and Inequality in Post-Socialist China.
Drawing on a decade of research, the book examines how LGBTQ+ people in post-socialist China pursue intimacy, dignity, and belonging while navigating state governance, family expectations, gender norms, and social inequalities.

Choi, Susanne Y. P., Tangi P. C. Yip, Hsiu-Hua Shen, Xiying Wang, and Lynne Y. Nakano (2026). Comparative Framing from Below: How Young People in Three Cities Interpret Cyber Dating Abuse by Drawing Boundaries Between Love, Harm, and Justice.

The article examines how young people in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taipei understand and interpret cyber dating abuse, offering important insights into the boundaries between love, harm, and justice in the digital age.

We are pleased to share the successful completion of our international conference! 🎉

✨On 18 April 2026, the Gender Research Centre at CUHK, in collaboration with the Gender Studies Programme, hosted the conference “Technology, Intimacy and Violence: Education and Prevention.”

The event brought together international and local scholars, alongside representatives from the Hong Kong Police Force, the Equal Opportunities Commission, NGOs, legal professionals and technology experts to discuss education, prevention and intervention strategies on technology-facilitated violence.

📚 Including students and teachers from 14 local secondary schools
