At CUHK Business School, innovation goes beyond the classroom. ✨This July, 26 MSc in Information and Technology Management (MScITM) students travelled to Silicon Valley, gaining first-hand exposure to one of the world's most dynamic technology and innovation ecosystems.

Led by Professor Dominic Chan, the five-day programme immersed students in Silicon Valley's innovation ecosystem through engagements with Race Capital, NetApp, and San Jose State University. Through interactions with technology leaders, entrepreneurs, and academics, students explored emerging technologies, startup ecosystems, digital transformation, and the growing impact of AI on business strategy. 🌎🤝 A highlight was an exclusive exchange at Plug and Play, where students connected with industry leader Mr. John Khazraee, Founder and CEO of MayimFlow, gaining first-hand perspectives on entrepreneurship and innovation leadership.

Students also visited the Computer History Museum and Intel Museum, gaining a deeper understanding of how the technological foundations and innovation culture helped shape Silicon Valley. 💻🚀

The experience culminated in a startup pitch session hosted at Google, where student teams presented innovative solutions ranging from AI-powered storytelling and mental health support platforms to job-matching and consumer management applications. The presentations showcased not only technical creativity but also the business acumen developed throughout the MScITM programme. 🎤💡

Through this trip, MScITM students gained valuable perspectives on how innovation moves from idea to impact, while building the skills and networks needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

How does the CUHK MSc in Sustainable Global Business (MScSGB) prepare future leaders to address complex sustainability challenges and create long-term business value?

The answer lies in connecting knowledge with action. During a recent MScSGB field trip to Singapore, students engaged with leading financial institutions, premier real estate and urban solutions partners, and a top-tier university, including BNP Paribas, Emirates NBD, MUFG, S&P Global, City Developments Limited (CDL), SJ Group, and Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU). Through discussions with executives and researchers, students examined how organisations are implementing sustainability strategies, managing transition challenges, and creating long-term value in a rapidly evolving sustainability landscape. 🌏

Visits to Gardens by the Bay and selected cultural landmarks further enriched students' understanding of sustainable urban development and environmental stewardship. 🏛️🌿

A highlight of the trip was an exclusive networking session with MScSGB Programme Advisors, senior executives, and sustainability leaders. These conversations offered valuable perspectives on emerging industry trends and sustainability careers, while giving students direct access to a cross-sector professional network. 🤝

By combining executive access, industry immersion, and applied learning, the MScSGB experience equips students with the practical expertise, strategic perspective, and professional networks to navigate sustainable transformation across industries and markets.

🌏How does the CUHK MSc in Management (MiM) programme prepare future business leaders for a global business environment?

As part of this year’s MiM Capstone Project, students partnered with Sunwah Group in Vietnam, taking on the role of consultants to address real business challenges in a cross-border business context. 💼

Preparation began in Hong Kong with an exclusive case launch session by Mr. Jesse Choi, Regional Director, Southeast Asia, Sunwah Group (Vietnam Headquarters), followed by consultancy workshops that strengthened students’ presentation, problem‑solving, and professional communication skills. 📚🤝

Students then embarked on a 10-day immersion in Vietnam, commencing the on-site itinerary with an exclusive cruise welcome dinner alongside Sunwah Group’s senior executives, marking the official launch of the intensive programme.

A key highlight was presenting strategic recommendations directly to Sunwah Group’s senior leadership team. Working across five key business functions, students delivered actionable solutions that demonstrated their ability to translate management knowledge into real business impact. 📈🎯

Beyond the high-stakes executive presentation, the MiM programme curated a series of on-site industrial visits and cultural excursions to deepen students’ understanding of Vietnam’s market landscape. Students explored diverse industries through visits to organisations including VSIP Vietnam, Yakult Vietnam Co. Ltd., Tân Nhật Furniture Company, You Tea, and GFT Vietnam Company Limited. They also visited iconic local landmarks to build holistic cultural awareness of Vietnam’s commercial ecosystem. These experiences provided valuable insights into Southeast Asia’s dynamic business landscape.

More than a study trip, the MiM Capstone Project is a global consulting experience that challenges students to think strategically, work across cultures, and create solutions for real organisations. 🚀
