HKPolyU MRC - Material Resource Centre Material Resource Centre in the School of Design is a place to explore materials. Material samples are continually added and updated.

The Material Resource Centre (MRC) in School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, is a place to explore materials representing current trends in design, materials research, and productions from all over the world. Visitors can discover new interesting materials and related technologies that can lead to new sources of inspiration and creativity. The MRC contains thousands of new and innovative materials from all over the world, collections from Material ConneXion New York, StylePark Germany, PolyU Eco-Material Archive (HK and PRD), Pantone color libraries, and collections of local materials, manufacturers, and suppliers. Every material sample is linked to a database containing all the related detailed descriptions and information, including contacts of manufacturers and distributors. The Centre is open to all staff, students, and alumni of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and university partners. MRCโ€™s staff can provide all the information and support for searching and locating materials samples.

At the Material Corner, explore how designers work with different materials, surface treatments, colours and manufacturing processes to create specific visual and tactile experiences. From natural materials to innovative alternatives, each material offers different possibilitiesโ€”and different compromises.

Come and explore the samples, compare their qualities, and discover how material choices can transform a design.

Students and visitors are welcome to visit the Material Corner and experience CMF through real materials.
