Happy Hours Gathering: At the Crossroads of Compassion - Doing Good Quietly (20 Aug, Thu)

Dear Xaverians,

At school, we could always observe the core Marist spirit: doing good quietly. True service simply rolls up its sleeves, bends down, and reaches out where help is needed most. In many ways, Crossroads Foundation (國際十字路會) sits at this exact same spiritual junction. True to its name, Crossroads is an intersection of empathy where a world of surplus meets a world of need.

At our upcoming Happy Hours, we welcome David (DJ) Begbie, International President of Crossroads Foundation, as our guest speaker. From its humble origins in Hong Kong collecting a few boxes of winter clothes for flood victims, Crossroads has grown into an 8-acre beacon in Gold Coast, Tuen Mun. Today, it ships aid to over 100 countries while keeping 50% of its resources right here in Hong Kong to support nearly 100 local NGOs and underprivileged families. As David simply reminds us: "Our world is in need, and it needs more people to serve. Come and hear about the needs around us, the story of Crossroads, and how each of us can be part of making a difference."

Mario da Silva (K69) will also share his experiences volunteering in Crossroads' bicycle workshop, where he fixes abandoned bikes for local refugees, asylum seekers, and low-income families in the New Territories, restoring their mobility, independence, and dignity so they can access medical care and food without the burden of transport fees.

Whether you are curious about local charity work, eager to hear inspiring real-life stories, or simply looking forward to catching up with old buddies over a drink, come join us for an evening of warm brotherhood, reflection, and connection!

Happy Hours Gathering: Navigating the Autumn Journey - Choices, Comfort, and Peace of Mind (16 Jul, Thu)

We often gather to celebrate the shared roots and vibrant spirit that unite us as Xaverians, keeping alive the energy of those young days at school. Yet, as the clock ticks forward, life gently nudges us towards a journey into our autumn years, bringing us face-to-face with the reality of a care home.

At our upcoming Happy Hours, Louis Tang (K78) will step up to guide us through this deeply meaningful, unavoidable, and highly practical subject. Far from being a gloomy discussion, Louis will break down the real choices and financing options available today - from navigating insurance schemes and facilities across Hong Kong and the Mainland to finding genuine positives and dignity in a major life transition.

Come share your perspectives, learn from one another's insights, and enjoy an evening filled with wisdom, laughter, and brotherhood.

Celebrating 59th birthday of Brother John

4 July marked yet another warm gathering for the Xaverian family as over 130 boys, teachers, parents and friends from SFXC and SFXS, TW joined the celebration of Brother John’s 59th birthday.

They first gathered at the Brothers’ canteen for warm chit-chat and a birthday cake-cutting, and then proceeded to a nearby restaurant. The evening was made even more meaningful by a mini-auction session: guests not only enjoyed a good meal and warm fellowship, but also brought home useful and meaningful keepsakes, with all proceeds going to support the Brothers’ mission—specifically, the recovery and renovation of a Marist school in the Philippines, parts of which were damaged by typhoons.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for your generosity—every sponsor, every bidder, and every Xaverian who loves and supports our alma mater and continues to show respect and care for the Brothers.

Congratulations to Mr. Henry Fan, 范鴻齡先生 SBS, JP (Class of 1964), on being awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (金紫荊星章) on 1 July 2026!

As Chairman of the Hospital Authority, Mr Fan demonstrated strong leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and helped strengthen patient care, manpower, and smart technology. He has also contributed significantly to Hong Kong’s financial services and the development of arts and culture.

Thank you for your dedicated service to the community, and wishing you continued success!

Many thanks to our senior "C Hing", C C Chang, class of 1961! Chang C Hing told me that he has got a Tourbillion watch already, but once he saw our school badge engraved on the dial of this 70th Anniversary Tourbillion watch, he just ordered it! He's so happy wearing it and seeing his name on the caseback!

Happy Hours Gathering: One Becomes Infinity - Harnessing the AI Army (18 Jun 2026)

Building a business from the ground up used to require rallying a dedicated crew. Today, however, a radical new paradigm is reshaping how we work and create. Imagine commanding a hyper-efficient, invisible workforce that operates around the clock, handles complex tasks, and dramatically lowers overhead. Not quite infinity, but certainly plenty. This is the power of harnessing an "AI Army" through the emerging concept of the Artificial Intelligence One-Person Company (AIOPC).

At our coming Happy Hours, Steve Wong will share with us the what, who, why, where, and how of AIOPC. Bringing his Silicon Valley experience back to Asia, Steve has embarked on an AI training and consulting journey, guiding organisations across the telecom, mobile internet, blockchain, and AI sectors. His expertise in leading large-scale digital initiatives also extends to his contributions in regional technology circles and public service, including his role as Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Big Data AI Association.

Whether you are eager to build your next venture or simply curious what all the buzz around AI is really about, come along and join the conversation. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and perhaps a grain of salt. We'll provide what AI can never replicate: good company, a shared laugh, and the familiar warmth of Xaverian fellowship.
