Stanford University has released its World’s Top 2% Scientists list 2026, where Prof HO Wing Kei from the Department of Science and Environmental Studies at EdUHK is ranked 9th nationally in Physical Chemistry for his career-long impact, and 58th globally (out of 44,088 scientists) for single-year impact in 2026.

美國史丹福大學公布2026世界排名前2%科學家名單，香港教育大學科學與環境學系何詠基教授在物理化學（Physical Chemistry）領域中，其職業生涯排名位列全國第9位；在2026年度排名中位列全球第58位（共44,088名科學家）。

“Talent in, Impact Out”: Inside The Education University of Hong Kong’s vision for an interconnected world of talent and expertise

At EdUHK, internationalization means creating real-world impact. As our President, Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, shares: “By welcoming scholars from diverse backgrounds, we help cultivate global citizens who respect every culture.”

A shining example of this vision is our Acting Head of the Department of Science and Environmental Studies and Associate Professor at FLASS, Dr. Deng Wenjing. Her team was the first in Hong Kong to identify endocrine-disrupting chemicals in indoor school environments. Working with international partners, her team has transformed these findings into practical tools and STEM learning programmes across Belt and Road countries, reaching over 3,000 students and educators. ““I am grateful for the many opportunities at the University. I think I have made a mark as a woman in science,” she says.

Alongside Dr. Deng, scholars like Prof. Andrew Mark Edwards and Dr. Artem Zadorozhnyy also highlight EdUHK’s strong support for global collaboration and early-career research.

🎉 Congratulations to our Year 2 student NG Chuen Yat (吳銓鎰) from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Integrated Environmental Management and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Science) programme, who has been selected as an Honours College Student at EdUHK!

The Honours College Inauguration cm Pledging Ceremony for the Second Pilot Cohort was held on 22 September 2026. As EdUHK’s flagship programme for nurturing future education leaders and professionals, the Honours College selected only 20 students this year through a rigorous process.

Chuen Yat shared his thoughts: “University is a pivotal stage for self-exploration and bold innovation. The Honours College offers the ideal environment to push my boundaries through its holistic curriculum—including the PRIDE project, personalised mentorship, IMPACT Training, and Global Exposure. Being admitted is a profound honour. Beyond the HK$260,000 grant, it is a recognition of my commitment. Engaging with talented peers continually inspires me to stay open-minded and pursue excellence.”

He aims to advance educational equity by collaborating with fellow EdUHK scholars to establish equal STEAM learning opportunities for all students, including those with SEN, directly supporting UN SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). He also hopes to conduct comparative research on educational equity strategies in countries like Singapore through Global Exposure opportunities.

We are proud of Chuen Yat and wish him every success in this journey! 🌟

🎉 恭喜本系二年級學生 吳銓鎰（就讀 綜合環境管理榮譽理學士及科學教育榮譽學士 課程）獲選為香港教育大學 榮譽學院學生！

教大榮譽學院第二屆試行計劃啟動禮暨宣誓儀式已於2026年9月22日舉行。榮譽學院作為教大培育未來教育領袖及專業人才的旗艦項目，今年僅錄取20名學生，遴選過程嚴謹。

吳銓鎰分享感受時表示：「大學是自我探索與勇於創新的關鍵階段。榮譽學院透過全面課程——包括PRIDE項目、個人化導師指導、IMPACT培訓及全球視野——提供理想環境讓我突破界限。獲錄取是莫大榮譽，除了港幣26萬元資助，更是對我真誠付出的肯定。與來自不同背景的優秀同學交流，持續激勵我保持開放思維，追求卓越。」

他期望透過PRIDE Pathway與教大跨學科同學合作，為所有學生（包括特殊教育需要學生）建立平等的STEAM學習機會，直接支持 聯合國可持續發展目標4（優質教育） 及 目標10（減少不平等）。他亦希望利用全球視野機會，在新加坡等地進行教育公平策略的比較研究。

🎉 Congratulations to Dr LI Liguan, Assistant Professor of the Department of Science and Environmental Studies, on the publication of her article “Environmental impacts, surveillance and mitigation of antimicrobial resistance” in Nature Reviews Earth & Environment (October 2026).

As the first author, Dr Li led this collaborative work with her research team, advancing our understanding of antimicrobial resistance in the environment and supporting global efforts towards sustainable development.

🎉 恭賀香港教育大學科學與環境學系助理教授李麗觀博士，其文章 《Environmental impacts, surveillance and mitigation of antimicrobial resistance》已於Nature Reviews Earth & Environment發表（2026年10月）。

李博士作為第一作者，帶領其研究團隊完成此項重要研究，此研究有助深化環境中抗菌素耐藥性的理解，並推動全球可持續發展。

EdUHK and LMU Joint Symposium Explores Sustainability Education and AI-driven Innovation

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) jointly hosted the EdUHK-LMU Joint Symposium—Engaging Learners in Sustainability: Exploring Socio-Scientific and Environmental Challenges on 6 October at EdUHK Tai Po Campus. The symposium brought together scholars, researchers and educators from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, France, Germany and beyond to exchange insights on sustainability education, environmental science, educational psychology, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration in addressing global challenges.

In response to escalating environmental challenges and rapid technological transformation, the symposium examined how education, research and international collaboration can contribute to sustainable development and cultivate future-ready learners to tackle complex socio-scientific issues. It also explored the opportunities and challenges posed by AI and its potential to drive educational innovation and sustainability.

The event further strengthened the partnership between EdUHK and LMU, reflecting the two universities' shared commitment to advancing sustainability, educational innovation and international collaboration. Through continued exchange and joint initiatives, both institutions aspire to contribute to sustainable development and empower future generations to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven world.

教大與德國慕尼黑大學合辦國際研討會 探討可持續發展教育與人工智能創新

香港教育大學（教大）與德國慕尼黑大學（Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, LMU）於10月6日在教大大埔校園合辦「EdUHK-LMU Joint Symposium—促進學習者參與可持續發展：探索社會性科學議題與環境挑戰」國際研討會。研討會匯聚來自中國內地、香港、法國及德國等地的學者、研究人員及教育工作者，就可持續發展教育、環境科學、教育心理學、人工智能及新興教學科技等議題交流見解，促進跨學科對話及國際合作，共同應對全球挑戰。

面對日益嚴峻的環境挑戰及科技迅速發展，研討會探討教育、科研及國際合作如何推動可持續發展，並培育具備應對複雜社會科學及環境議題能力的人才。與會者亦深入交流人工智能帶來的機遇與挑戰，以及其在教育創新和可持續發展方面的潛力。

是次研討會進一步深化教大與慕尼黑大學的合作夥伴關係，體現兩校在推動國際合作、跨學科研究及教育創新方面的共同願景。雙方將繼續透過學術交流及合作項目，共同推動可持續發展，培育具備全球視野和創新能力的新一代人才，以應對日益互聯及科技驅動世界所帶來的機遇與挑戰。
