香港中文大學作為支持機構之一。我們鼓勵已發布ESG或可持續發展報告的企業及機構踴躍參與，分享實踐成果，攜手推動香港邁向淨零未來。

The Net Zero Awards for Excellence (NZAfE), launched by the Green Council, is Hong Kong’s first independent net-zero assessment framework and awards programme. The initiative aims to evaluate the credibility, governance, and quality of corporate net-zero commitments, while promoting more transparent, measurable, and accountable climate action.
​
As a supporting organization, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) encourages companies and organizations that have published ESG or sustainability reports to participate, showcase their sustainability achievements, and contribute to Hong Kong’s transition towards a net-zero future.

| 🌱 中大永續在線（十）揭開紅樹林守護海岸力量🌊|
​
由香港中文大學地球與環境科學系及生命科學學院 Benoit Thibodeau 教授領導的研究發現，紅樹林不僅能儲存碳，還能有效移除沿海水域中的氮污染，並將其轉化為無害氮氣。這項生態服務稱為「藍氮（Blue Nitrogen）」。
​
研究結果突顯紅樹林改善沿海水質的能力，亦提醒我們重新認識濕地在海岸保護、生物多樣性保育及城市韌性方面的重要價值 🌿🌊
​
是次研究展現如何透過自然為本解決方案，推動可持續發展，亦是中大積極實踐聯合國可持續發展目標（SDGs）的具體例證：

🔹 🏘️ 實踐 SDG 11（可持續城市及社區） ─ 透過海岸防護、減緩風暴潮影響及提升城市韌性，展現紅樹林作為天然基礎設施的重要價值。

| 🌱 CUHK Sustainability in Action (10) Uncovering the Power of Mangroves 🌊|
​
Research led by Professor Benoit Thibodeau, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the School of Life Sciences at CUHK, has revealed that mangroves do more than store carbon. They can also effectively remove excess nitrogen pollution from coastal waters and convert it into harmless nitrogen gas. This ecosystem service is known as ‘Blue Nitrogen’🌿
​
The findings highlight the ability of mangroves to improve coastal water quality, while also reminding us of the important role wetlands play in coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, and urban resilience 🌿🌊
​
This study demonstrates how nature-based solutions can contribute to sustainable development and exemplifies CUHK's commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

🔹 🏘️ SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities – Demonstrating the value of mangroves as natural infrastructure that protects coastlines, mitigates storm-surge impacts, and strengthens urban resilience.
