| GO! Co-create a Sustainable Campus 🌳 |

The Green Office Programme (GO!) 🌱 has been encouraging CUHK colleagues to work together since its launch in 2012, integrating sustainability into daily office operations 🏢 and promoting a culture of sustainability across campus.
​
We are thrilled to share that for three consecutive years (2023–2025), over 90 offices have been recognized as 'Competent Green Offices' 🎖️ The programme also features Merit, Gold, Platinum, and various category awards to commend departments for their outstanding performance in driving sustainability and a green workplace culture 🌟
​
Through a wide range of practical actions, the CUHK community demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by advancing SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13: Climate Action 🌍 Through collective efforts, we are contributing to a more sustainable future 🌿

CU303社區服務計劃現正招募中大義工參與由東華三院樂盈外展綜合健康服務舉辦的長者康樂活動。樂盈外展綜合健康服務一直為居於港島區院舍的長者提供外展社交、康樂及健康支援服務，協助長者維持身心健康及社會聯繫。

分別來自兩間院舍的長者早前透過筆友計劃互相認識，今次活動將安排他們一同參觀博物館及共進午餐，讓他們透過實體聚會延續書信交流建立的友誼。
​
作為義工，你將全程陪伴長者參與活動，包括：
🔹 一對一支援長者參與活動
🔹 陪同參與博物館導賞
🔹 需以廣東話與長者溝通交流互動，共創愉快回憶

| CU303•Care & Unite Programme Volunteer Recruitment 🌳 |

The CU303•Care & Unite Programme is now recruiting CUHK volunteers for an elderly recreational activity organized by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lok Ying Outreaching Allied Health Service. The service provides outreach social, recreational and allied health support to elderly residents living in residential care homes, helping them maintain their well-being and social connections.
​
Elderly residents from two care homes were previously connected through a pen-pal programme. This activity will bring them together for a museum visit and lunch gathering, allowing them to strengthen the friendships they have built through written correspondence.
​
As a volunteer, you will accompany elderly participants throughout the event and:
​
🔹 Provide one-on-one support to elderly participants
🔹 Accompany residents during the guided museum tour
🔹 Engage with residents in Cantonese and create meaningful interactions
🔹 Assist with participant safety and, where necessary, provide wheelchair support
​
📅 Date: 15 September 2026 (Tuesday)

|🌱中大永續在線（七）化廢為能 推動循環經濟 ♻️|
​
由香港中文大學理學院院長兼偉倫化學教授宋春山教授領導的研究團隊，研發出「一體化生物廢棄物製綠色燃料轉化站」，可將廚餘、畜禽糞便、污泥等有機廢棄物產生的沼氣，轉化為低碳燃料。
​
與傳統技術主要將沼氣直接燃燒以產生熱能或電力不同，這項創新技術可進一步將沼氣轉化為高價值綠色燃料，不但提升生物廢棄物的資源利用價值，亦有助減少碳排放，為低碳能源發展提供新方案💡
​
是次研究成果展現中大如何透過創新科研回應環境挑戰，亦是中大積極實踐聯合國可持續發展目標（SDGs）的具體例證：
​
• ⚡實踐 SDG 7（經濟適用的清潔能源）— 將生物廢棄物轉化為綠色燃料，促進可持續能源發展。

｜🌱CUHK Sustainability in Action (7) Turning Waste into a Low-Carbon Future ♻️｜
​
A research team led by Professor Song Chunshan, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Wei Lun Professor of Chemistry at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has developed an integrated biowaste-to-green fuel generator that converts biogas produced from food waste, livestock manure, sludge, and other organic waste streams into low-carbon fuels.
​
Unlike conventional technologies that primarily burn biogas to generate heat or electricity, this innovative system further converts biogas into high-value green fuels. By enhancing resource utilization and reducing carbon emissions, the technology offers a promising pathway towards a low-carbon energy future💡
​
This research demonstrates how CUHK is leveraging innovation to address environmental challenges while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
​
• ⚡ SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy — Converting organic waste into green fuels to support sustainable energy development.
