The Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong is the University of Chicago’s premier location in Asia. The Yuen Campus builds upon the University of Chicago’s rich tradition of ambitious research, world-class education, and deep institutional collaborations throughout Asia. The Campus is home to Chicago Booth’s World-Class Executive MBA, Executive Education, College Study Abroad, the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation. 【UChicago alumni】Michael Woodford, AB’77, a College alum and former UChicago faculty member, has won the for his work creating economics models that reshaped how policymakers steady a volatile economy. Honored alongside Stanford’s Robert E. Hall, Woodford built a framework on the real choices of households and businesses that now guides monetary policy around the globe.

“It’s a tremendous honor,” Woodford said. “It’s a surprise, but I’m feeling very good about it.”

Following opening remarks by Consul General Julie Eadeh, Chicago Booth Professor Emanuele Colonnelli presented his research on the globalization of entrepreneurship, and Samir Mayekar of the UChicago Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation moderated a panel discussion on the tech economy with an angel investor and a capital partner Stella Zhou (MBA'18). The event offered insights into how prosperity is driven through exchange and innovation.

【UChicago faculty】Congratulations to UChicago Professor Wu Hung, who was recently conferred an Honorary Fellowship by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) for his exceptional achievements and contributions in his field, along with four other recipients: Ms. Bonnie Y Chan, Mr. Rembert LAI Siu-Kin, Mr. PAN Yi, and Dr. YU Long.

The conferral ceremony was officiated by Prof. Harry Shum, Council Chairman of HKUST, and Prof. Nancy Ip, President of HKUST.

Prof. Wu Hung is a world-renowned scholar of Chinese art. His recognition by HKUST reflects the enduring impact of his scholarship and his deep commitment to advancing cultural understanding across borders.

【UChicago event】Last week, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Programme on Social Innovation (HKJCPSI) at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business co-hosted the Inspiring Asia Micro Film Festival 2026 – Hong Kong Region Screening & Award Ceremony.

The inaugural Hong Kong edition brought together leaders from philanthropy, government, academia, business, nonprofits, and the creative sector to explore this year's theme: Community Empowerment.

As the Festival's Social Innovation Partner, HKJCPSI collaborated with the Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy and Lee Hysan Foundation to convene an evening of cross-sector exchange. The event featured award-winning micro films, welcome remarks from UChicago Professor Emanuele Colonnelli, and panel discussions on storytelling and how philanthropy, innovation, and collaboration help communities thrive.

Building on the Festival, HKJCPSI will support short-listed charitable project teams through mentorship and capacity-building.

【UChicago Research】One of the hardest problems in oncology just got a new angle — and it started with yogurt bacteria.

UChicago researchers engineered Bifidobacterium longum, a common probiotic, to act as a targeted delivery system for immune therapy inside pancreatic tumors.

The study, published in Science Advances, is a testament to what cross-disciplinary science can achieve — and to the kind of fundamental research that continues to define UChicago's approach to medicine's toughest challenges.

【UChicago Research】A new computational framework developed by researchers at UChicago's Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, the Department of Chemistry, and IBM brings together classical and quantum computing to advance our understanding of molecular electronic structures. The method addresses a longstanding challenge in computational chemistry by breaking complex molecular problems into smaller fragments, then applying quantum sampling techniques to solve them, enabling hybrid algorithms to tackle progressively larger systems.

"This work demonstrates that current quantum hardware can already be integrated with established quantum chemistry methods," said Prof. Laura Gagliardi, co-author of the research. The results hold promise for advancing research in catalysis, energy, and chemical discovery.
