【🌍 City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) Demonstrates Sustainable Innovations at the Science and Technology Fair of "Science in the Public Service" 🔬✨】

CityUHK is proud to showcase its sustainable innovations at the "Science in the Public Service" (「科學為民」服務巡禮 2026) Science and Technology Fair, highlighting our commitment to translating advanced scientific research into practical solutions for society and global sustainability! The fair marks the 20th anniversary of the campaign which aims at improving the livelihood of people through science and innovation.

🔹 UN-FIRST Programme: an international initiative endorsed by UNESCO as one of the initiatives under the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033), which is dedicated to developing affordable technologies in collaboration with global partners. Its mission is to advance sustainability and improve quality of life, with a particular focus on underprivileged regions. One of the four projects under the programme is showcased at the fair:
Passive Radiative Cooling — Advancing Carbon Neutrality:
Led by Prof. Tso Chi-Yan of School of Energy and Environment (SEE), this project uses engineered optical and thermal material properties to achieve high solar reflectance and infrared emission. By reducing operational energy demands for buildings without relying on traditional power-intensive systems, it drives true carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability. This technology has been successfully commercialised through i2Cool, an incubator start-up under CityUHK's HK Tech 300 initiative!

🔹 Portable, Tank-Free Nitric Oxide Generation for Inhaled Therapy — developed through a CityUHK–HKUST collaboration, with Prof. Jin Shang of the School of Energy and Environment as CityUHK PI. The handheld AeroNOx system generates nitric oxide on demand without bulky gas cylinders, aiming to make inhaled therapy more accessible and affordable. Awarded gold medals at the 2025 Geneva and Silicon Valley invention exhibitions, the technology is advancing towards pilot manufacturing and medical-device translation.

📍 Event Details & Venue — Exhibition Open to Public

【AUTM Training Courses in Hong Kong 2026 - Day 2: License Negotiations】

We wrapped up the AUTM Training Course at City University of Hong Kong on August 11, 2026, with an incredible final session led by our distinguished US instructors, Dr. Mike Moore (Director of Technology Transfer, Office of Innovation Commercialization, Augusta University) and Mr. Alan Bentley (Assistant Vice Chancellor for Technology Transfer & IP Development, Vanderbilt University). We extend our deepest gratitude to both of them for guiding our attendees through a masterclass in deal-making.

Building on yesterday's foundation on technology marketing, Day 2 focused entirely on the art and strategy of License Negotiations. Participants actively engaged in hands-on exercises to master key licensing and negotiation skills using real-world scenarios, practicing how to structure term sheets, navigate complex contract clauses, bridge deadlocks, and align academic values with commercial objectives.

What an impactful two days of learning, networking, and skill-building! Thank you to our instructors and all participants from many universities, research centers and start-ups who made this program such a resounding success with great enjoyment.
