Join our upcoming open class titled “𝗣𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝘁-𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀”, which features 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗶𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗶 𝗟𝗨𝗢 from the School of Future Design of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and moderates by Dr. Izzy JIAN from SSPS.

Combining 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, the session will explore how underused urban spaces can be reimagined through pet-friendly design. Participants will also exchange perspectives on the design and management of dog parks and other shared public spaces through games, voting and role-play activities.

Our next Departmental Research Seminar turns the spotlight on the distribution, accessibility, and management of dog parks in Shenzhen.

Drawing on spatial analysis and survey findings, the seminar will also explore public views on the facilities, management and use of dog parks, offering valuable insights into spatial justice, urban planning and the development of more inclusive public spaces💡.

下一場SSPS學系研究研討會將聚焦深圳寵物公園，一齊探討公園嘅分佈、便利程度同管理，以及背後反映嘅城市規劃同空間公義議題。

❤️SSPS Students Built Life-Saving Skills Together🩹

More than 30 local and non-local SSPS undergraduate students took part in a four-day 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 jointly organized by SSPS and 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 which held on 26 – 27 September and 3 – 4 October 2026🤩.

Through demonstrations and extensive hands-on practice, our students learned how to respond to emergencies and provide essential first aid. From CPR and airway management to bandage application, wound care, and the safe handling and transportation of injured persons, the course equipped them with practical skills that could make a real difference when help is needed🫶🏻.

We were delighted to see everyone’s enthusiasm and commitment throughout the training. Many students even returned on the morning of 11 October for an additional revision session before taking the examination that afternoon. Our special thanks go to Mr. Lee for voluntarily conducting the revision session, and to both trainers (Mr. Lee & Mr. Chiu) for their dedicated teaching and generous sharing of professional knowledge, practical skills and real-life experience💖.

Well done to all our students for completing the intensive training and examination✨!

We hope your hard work pays off and that you will be ready to put these valuable skills into practice whenever someone needs help⛑️.

❤️ SSPS學生急救技能Get！🩹

SSPS早前喺9月26至27日及10月3至4日，與香港聖約翰救傷隊合辦4日嘅急救證書課程，吸引超過30位本地及非本地本科生參加🤩。

同學係課堂透過導師示範同反覆練習，學習點樣應對緊急情況及為傷者提供基本急救。由心肺復甦法、繃帶包紮、傷口護理，到安全處理及運送傷者，課程內容全面又實用，幫助同學逐步掌握各項急救技巧，為關鍵時刻向有需要嘅人伸出援手做好準備🫶🏻。

好開心見到同學喺整個課程中投入及認真學習，唔少同學更加喺10月11日考試當日朝早特意返嚟參加額外溫習堂，為下晝嘅考試作最後準備。特別感謝李Sir義務為同學主持溫習堂，亦衷心感謝李Sir同趙Sir嘅悉心教導，毫無保留咁分享專業知識、實用技巧同親身經驗，令大家獲益良多❤️！

恭喜各位同學完成哂4日密集既訓練同考試✨! 希望大家嘅努力得到好成果，亦能夠將今次學到嘅急救知識同技巧應用喺日常生活，遇到突發情況時可以冷靜應對，為身邊有需要嘅人伸出援手💪!

📣 Dr Isabella NG and Dr Md Farid HOSSAIN visit Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for Academic Exchange and Field Research

Associate Professor Isabella NG Fung-sheung and Post-doctoral Fellow Dr Md Farid HOSSAIN undertook a research trip to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka from 15 to 24 February 2026, immersing themselves in a vibrant environment filled with innovation and intellectual curiosity. In Bangladesh, they visited Jahangirnagar University at the invitation of Professor Dr Md. Shamsul Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Dr NG delivered a research talk titled “In Local Exclusivity Lies Global Inclusion – The Relational Ontology of Asylum-Seekers and Refugees and Local Communities in a Post-Colonial Hong Kong Village” for the faculty members. She also spoke to students on the topic “Asylum-Seekers and Refugees in Hong Kong: Merging Academic and Activist Work,” invited by Dr Nurul Huda Sakib, head of the Department of Government and Politics. Dr Md Farid Hossain moderated both sessions.
