How can researchers build meaningful partnerships with primary care practices and clinicians while balancing real-world challenges with scientific rigour?

Practice-based research plays an essential role in translating evidence into routine primary care. Its success, however, depends on the meaningful engagement of frontline clinicians, care teams, patients and researchers throughout the research process.

In this seminar, 𝗗𝗿 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, will draw on her experience conducting integrated behavioural health research in the United States and the growing international literature on practice-based research networks.

🏆 恭賀黃麗儀教授及醫療體系及政策研究所（CHSPR）於 2026 年 Picker Experience Network（PEN）Awards 榮獲「國際卓越護理體驗」組別大獎！

是次獲獎研究項目由醫療體系及政策研究所副總監（研究）、賽馬會公共衞生及基層醫療學院副院長（教學）兼教授黃麗儀教授領導，並於 PEN Awards 匯報成果。項目旨在透過「出院資訊摘要」（PDIS），改善病人由醫院返回社區後的護理銜接。

研究團隊聯同醫院管理局、醫護人員、病人及照顧者共同開發出院資訊摘要（Post-discharge Information Summary，PDIS），以回應病人經驗調查所反映的溝通需要，協助病人於出院後獲取藥物資訊，了解藥物副作用及警示徵狀。該項目先後於四間公立醫院試行，並透過超過 3,700 名病人及醫護人員參與的評估研究，證實能顯著改善出院溝通成效，提升病人對藥物資訊的理解、自我管理的信心及減少藥物相關副作用。其後，PDIS 已推展至香港全部 43 間公立醫院，並納入日常電子臨床系統，成為優化病人出院支援服務的重要措施。

Picker Experience Network（PEN）Awards 是英國及國際首個、亦是唯一專門表揚病人經驗最佳實踐的獎項，旨在嘉許從病人、照顧者、家屬及醫護人員角度出發，在改善護理服務、促進持份者參與及提升病人福祉等方面作出卓越貢獻的個人及團隊。

這項國際殊榮充分肯定了學術界與醫療界攜手合作，並以病人聲音和經驗推動醫療服務創新及促進持續改善的成果。

The project was recognised for demonstrating how patient feedback can drive sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery.

Developed in collaboration with the Hospital Authority, healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers, the 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 (𝗣𝗗𝗜𝗦) was designed in response to findings from patient experience surveys that identified communication gaps related to medications, side effects, and warning signs after hospital discharge. Piloted in four public hospitals and evaluated with more than 3,700 patients and healthcare staff, the initiative demonstrated significant improvements in discharge communication, medication-related information, patient confidence in self-management, and support for caregivers, and reduced medication-related side effects, leading to its implementation across all 43 public hospitals in Hong Kong.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗣𝗘𝗡) 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 are the first and only awards programme dedicated to recognising excellence in patient experience across health and social care in the UK and internationally. They celebrate initiatives that make outstanding contributions to care and wellbeing from the perspectives of patients, carers, families and staff.

This international recognition highlights academic's success in partnership with the healthcare sector to transform patient voices into meaningful improvements in healthcare services.

74 Pakistani women in Hong Kong tell their stories of migration, emotional struggle, and resilience — in their own photographs and their own words.

Originating from a two-year community-based photovoice research project with Pakistani women in Hong Kong, led by the JCSPHPC research initiative, C.A.R.E., 𝘔𝘺 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 is a photovoice exhibition that transcends a presentation of research findings, it is a celebration of community voices, relationships, and collective efforts to make often-overlooked experiences visible. It is also a testament to the time, patience, mutual respect, and sustained commitment that go into meaningful community engagement.

74位香港巴基斯坦女性，以親自拍攝的照片和親筆書寫的文字，訴說她們移居、情感掙扎和韌性的故事。

𝘔𝘺 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 是一個影像發聲（Photovoice）展覽，源自一項由JCSPHPC研究團隊C.A.R.E.帶領、與居港巴基斯坦裔女性共同進行、為期兩年的社區影像發聲研究項目。是次展覽不單是呈現研究成果，更放大社區內的聲音和連繫，以及慶祝讓社區內被忽視的經歷得以被看見所付出的共同努力。展覽亦見證了建立具意義的社區參與背後所投注的時間、耐心、互相尊重與持續付出。

Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) has emerged as a tool to potentially identify a variety of community health and behavioral trends rapidly and effectively. Dr. Sabo-Attwood will describe the utility of WBE as a rapid surveillance tool in advancing the understanding of community-level drug use in the U.S. National trends in wastewater-based fentanyl consumption rate across several cities will be explored in conjunction with health outcome indicators. She will also highlight the advances and challenges in the cradle-to-grave approach.

Outstanding students from Hong Kong and around the world are encouraged to pursue advanced research training at CUHK with support from 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗗 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 (𝗛𝗞𝗣𝗙𝗦).

Successful applicants can undertake full-time doctoral studies with 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁. The 2027/28 academic year will commence on 1 August 2027.

💰Stipend: HK$344,400 per year (approx. US$44,200)

🎓Tuition fee waiver: Up to HK$198,000 (approx. US$25,390)

🗣️坦誠談生死，面對人生最後一程的挑戰

《維持生命治療的預作決定條例》（《條例》）已於今年 7 月 31 日正式生效。JCSPHPC 副教授鍾一諾教授，近日獲邀擔任 MM - Mill MILK 播客節目《安全模式》嘉賓，探討預設醫療指示和「安樂死」、「在家臨終」等生死議題，以及在香港討論和推動相關政策所面對的挑戰。

鍾教授指出，雖然醫院管理局早於 2010 年發布預設醫療指示的相關指引並以行政方式推行，但其時執行上尚未完善，例如，根據《消防條例》(第 95 章)，即使病人已作出預設醫療指示，輔助醫療人員仍須令病人「復甦或維持其生命」。而今年 7 月《條例》生效，則為預設醫療指示與不作心肺復甦術命令確立相應法律框架，為病人、醫護人員和施救者提供法律保障，令各方能夠更清晰、有效地尊重病人對生命的自主權 。

鍾教授亦澄清預設醫療指示和安樂死有根本分別－預設醫療指示是較被動的做法，在條例和指示適用的情況下，尊重病人預先表明的意願，不向病人提供維持生命治療；同時秉持「慎入易出」的原則。而安樂死則涉及主動結束生命，雖然社會曾經就個別個案進行討論，但目前在香港仍不合法。

然而，討論和推動相關政策在香港面對極大的文化挑戰。鍾教授指死亡在香港社會仍然是一大忌諱，例如，病人在家中自然病逝也可能令物業被視為凶宅；或對政府就遺體解剖的規定有所誤解而抗拒在家臨終；種種文化禁忌和對相關政策規例欠缺充分理解，均令有意在家臨終的病人面對重重困難。

鍾教授提出，同樣受華人文化影響，台灣卻能在政府協助下推動「返家臨終」；這反映傳統文化可以有不同的詮釋，亦沒有單一的正確答案。正因如此，社會更需要透過生死教育及開放討論，讓公眾關心和理解有關生命晚期不同選擇背後的考量。鍾教授強調，正因為尊重生命，所以更應坦誠討論生死大事。
