🌊 One final wave from all of us! 👋💙

As we bring the MareSkill journey to a close, this photo captures what has mattered most: the people, knowledge and connections we have brought together.

Over the past two and a half years, we have worked across Croatia and Italy to identify the skills needed in the Blue Economy, develop new educational programmes, turn learning into practice and create opportunities for students, young researchers and professionals.

But perhaps our most lasting achievement is the network of people and institutions who will continue sharing knowledge, supporting one another and working towards a safer, more innovative and sustainable Blue Economy.

Our project is ending, but the skills, partnerships and responsibility we share for protecting our sea will stay with us.

Thank you to every partner, participant and friend who helped shape this journey. Keep learning, keep connecting and keep caring for our sea. 🌊

This year, we were delighted to team up with SHIP Festival once again! As part of our MareSkill Final Conference, we treated our participants to festival tickets so they could experience another side of Šibenik — its music, energy and amazing atmosphere. 💙

And judging by the photos they shared with us, they had a fantastic time! 📸✨

A huge shout-out to the SHIP Festival organisers for bringing such a special event to our city. We hope the festival continues to thrive in Šibenik for many years to come!

We’ll be cheering you on and, just as we’ve done before, looking for opportunities to bring our future events together with the festival. After all, the best connections are often made beyond the conference room. 🎵

As the MareSkill project approaches its conclusion, we are pleased to share our final newsletter, highlighting the activities, achievements and collaborations that have shaped our journey.

From study visits in Croatia and Italy and the Blue Skills Summer School in Trieste to our Final Conference in Šibenik, this edition celebrates the people, knowledge and partnerships that have contributed to a more sustainable and innovative blue economy.

🌊 Our journey may be coming to an end, but our responsibility to the sea continues.

This video is a look back at the people, places, experiences and knowledge that brought us together over the past two and a half years.

We have learned, explored, connected and worked together to build skills for a stronger and more sustainable Blue Economy.

And now, as we say goodbye to this chapter, one message remains: our sea deserves our respect, care and protection. 💙

Let’s keep investing in education, sharing knowledge and developing the skills that will help future generations protect our marine environment and shape a sustainable Blue Economy.

Great partnerships are one of the most meaningful results of our journey.

A heartfelt thank you to Javna ustanova Priroda Šibensko-kninske županije for being with us from the very beginning and continuously supporting our activities through their participation and engagement. 💙

From day one, one of our missions was to connect projects working on similar challenges, bring institutions together, engage new stakeholders and build a network of people committed to a better, safer and more sustainable Blue Economy.

Our collaboration with Javna ustanova Priroda Šibensko-kninske županije is a wonderful example of what can happen when institutions share knowledge, support one another and work towards a common goal.

As this project chapter comes to a close, we are grateful not only for everything we have achieved together, but also for the connections that will continue beyond it.

⚓ Connecting young researchers with the future of shipbuilding and marine technology!

A big thank you to Antonio Mikulić from the Sveučilište u Zagrebu/University of Zagreb for joining our Final Conference and contributing as a panelist to the round table “Blue Skills for the Future: Are Education and Industry Ready for the Next Generation of the Blue Economy?”

As a young researcher in shipbuilding and marine technology, Antonio brought an important perspective on the skills needed by a new generation entering a sector shaped by the digital and green transitions.

Drawing also on his experience from the MareSkill Study Visit in Monfalcone, he highlighted the value of direct contact with industry, international exchange and practical learning opportunities in connecting academic knowledge with real-world challenges.

Connecting education, research and the future of the maritime sector!

A big thank you to Vedran Slapničar from the Sveučilište u Zagrebu/University of Zagreb for joining our Final Conference and contributing as a panelist to the round table “Blue Skills for the Future: Are Education and Industry Ready for the Next Generation of the Blue Economy?”

His perspective brought an important focus to the discussion: how education can keep pace with the rapid changes shaping shipbuilding and the maritime sector, from digitalisation and automation to the green transition.

Preparing the next generation of engineers and professionals requires more than knowledge alone. It requires practical experience, cooperation with industry, interdisciplinary thinking and the ability to adapt to new technologies and challenges.

🌊 Blue skills meet real industry experience!

A big thank you to Matija Bumbak from Platforma 22 za razvoj i investicije / Dalmatia SeaFood for joining our Final Conference and contributing as a panelist to the round table “Blue Skills for the Future: Are Education and Industry Ready for the Next Generation of the Blue Economy?”

Bringing the perspective of shellfish producers to the discussion was especially valuable. Sustainable aquaculture and shellfish farming are an important part of the Blue Economy, and their future depends on knowledge, innovation, new skills and strong cooperation between education, research and industry.

As our friends from Dalmatia SeaFood highlighted, while the project is coming to an end, the knowledge gained and partnerships created between Croatia and Italy open new opportunities for the sector.

Yesterday, we celebrated the MareSkill - Smart and innovative blue skills for competitive blue economy Final Conference in Šibenik at Veleučilište u Šibeniku – a day filled with inspiring discussions, shared experiences and, most importantly, people who have been part of this journey. 💙

Beyond project results and blue skills, MareSkill has always been about connecting people, exchanging knowledge and creating opportunities for future collaboration.

These photos capture what made the day truly special – a friendly atmosphere, meaningful conversations and networking that we hope will continue long after the project ends.
