WUDC Split 2017

Dear All,

We are incredibly grateful to those who put their trust into us and voted for Split to be the host of WUDC 2017. Unfortunately, we won't be given a chance to host you all in our city for Worlds, but hopefully we'll see many of you at the upcoming Split Open 2015.

A big thank you to the Dutch and South Africa bids - this years process has taken us all closer to the goal of transparent, honest and content-based evaluations of potential hosts and we are honored to have been a part of it.

Congratulations to the Dutch WUDC Team for winning the bid, we're sure that they'll pour their hearts and souls into making certain that everyone has a wonderful time and we're positive that they'll do a great job.

Every potential WUDC host puts a lot of effort into offering the best possible WUDC Championship. We are happy that this year's bidding process is the most scrutinized one so far. The debating community should have access to as many comparisons possible in order to be able to pick the host most likely to live up to their promises. The German representative compiled a list of all the claims all three bids where able to confirm in writing - a good practice that should be applied as often as possible! We recommend everyone to read the list and scrutinise the promises we made!

We believe it is vitally important for all judges to have the resources to attend worlds, regardless of their financial means or country of origin. The Split Independent Adjudicator Travel budget, at EUR 30,000 is more than double that of the other bids. So we will be able to subsidise many more judges from further away circuits who otherwise would not be able to attend a European Worlds.

Split WUDC has the MOST EXPERIENCED organization team in the history of the World Championships. Led by the Zagreb EUDC 2014 Org Com, the team includes those who have worked on Belgrade EUDC, will provide logistical support for WUDC 2016 and have convened over 20 competitions between them.

Split offers the only organization team that has convened multiple international tournaments, experience that you cannot pick up by just running domestic competitions, which are considerably smaller, do not involve hotel accommodation, or impressive socials.

We are delighted that Split WUDC 2017 DCA, Samuel Chan, will be joining Mai Mokhsein (Malaysia), Vihasini Gopakumar (Singapore), Inah Robles (Philippines) and Saad Ashraf (Bangladesh) as part of the Adjudication Core of APU Asian British Parliamentary Championships!
