Join us at a series of guest lectures by Professor Tuan N. Samahon, Director of international programmes and the LLM programme at Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law. Professor Samahon is an expert on US constitutional law, administrative law and transparency, and the federal courts.

The first lecture will be held on May 26, at 16.00-18.00, at Trg Republike Hrvatske 3, lecture room IV, with the title: "Is the U.S. Federal Judiciary a Bulwark Against Trump? A House Divided Against Itself."

The second lecture will be held on May 27, at 10.00-12.00, at Trg Republike Hrvatske 3, lecture hall IV, titled: "Tariff Whack-a-Mole with Donald Trump: U.S. Presidential Tariff Authorities and the Ultra Vires Trump 47 Presidency."

We had the pleasure of hosting the delegation of judges from the General Court of the European Union, led by President of the General Court Marc van der Woude, at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law, the past Friday.

The judges' presentations offered insights into the General Court’s role within the EU judicial system, recent reforms of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and cases spanning competition law, data protection, and fundamental rights.

It was a genuine pleasure to host the judges and to take part in fruitful discussions following their presentations.

The General Court of the European Union is coming to Pravni fakultet Sveučilišta u Zagrebu PFZG!

Last weekend our Zagreb team achieved an outstanding 1st place at the Central and Eastern European Moot Competition (CEEMC)!

Held in Timișoara from 1 to 3 May, four brilliant students represented our Faculty at this prestigious competition: Frane Nikola Marović, Hrvoje Matić, Anja Polovina, Mihael Šoić, under the mentorship of dr. sc. Antonija Ivančan and Assistant Ana Altabas. We are especially proud that Anja Polovina was awarded the Professor William Cornish Best Speaker Prize.

As part of this recognition, the team will visit leading institutions in London (including the UK Supreme Court and Inner Temple) and the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law, and has been awarded a place on the British Law Centre’s one-year Diploma in English Law & Legal Skills (DELLS). In addition, as the recipient of the Best Speaker Prize, Anja Polovina has been awarded an internship at the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Last week was packed with an exciting line-up of events at Zagreb's Jean Monnet Department of European Public Law.

On 8 April, we had the pleasure of hosting Eleanor Spaventa (Bocconi University) who delivered an insightful lecture on practical guidance for publishing in international EU law journals.

The following day, 9 April, we hosted a dynamic roundtable on “Methodology of EU Constitutional Law” with Siniša Rodin (Court of Justice of the EU) and Armin von Bogdandy (Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law).

Last, but certainly not least, on 10 April, we concluded with a conference on “EU Values and Interests in a Time of Geopolitical Transformation”, jointly organised with the Common Market Law Review, to mark the journal's extraordinary issue on this topic. It was a real privilege to bring together so many leading EU law scholars to this intellectually stimulating conference.

A sincere thank you to all speakers, chairs and discussants, who contributed to making all these events so memorable.

We are pleased to announce the 2026 edition of the Jean Monnet Seminar on Advanced Issues of EU Law!

This time we are gathering to explore the core values of the European Union from multiple perspectives – constitutional, political, social, and philosophical.

As always, we invite PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars to send us their proposals addressing questions related to EU values, including democracy, the rule of law, pluralism, EU’s identity, solidarity, market and social justice, foreign policy, and the future of integration.
