SyntheX – Speculative and Critical Design Project by Aizat Myrzakhmetova, Interaction Design MA2 student
What if love was treated as a biological error? SyntheX is a speculative design project imagining a near-future clinic where relationship problems are diagnosed as failures of personality alignment. Couples on the verge of divorce are offered a technological alternative to separation: modify one partner instead. Using a combination of genomic profiling, psychometric analysis, and predictive compatibility modeling, SyntheX identifies “misaligned” character traits and proposes a permanent behavioral recalibration. The process begins with a decision: who will change? The selected partner provides biometric consent, receives a clinical “Genome Analysis,” and undergoes pharmaceutical personality modification designed to eliminate friction and ensure harmony. SyntheX does not propose a future. It exposes a desire: to remove the uncertainty, discomfort, and negotiation that make relationships human.
