𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬: TudCom 4: Tudományos ismeretterjesztés: szórakoztatva oktatás
📍Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem, Budapest
📆 2026. május 22.
Jelentkezési határidő: 2026. március 31.

A Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem NITK Digitális Média és Kommunikáció Tanszéke konferenciát szervez Tudományos ismeretterjesztés: szórakoztatva oktatás címmel. A sorozat három korábbi tanácskozása a tudománykommunikáció alapvetéseire, az online tudománykommunikációra, legutoljára pedig a mesterségesintelligencia-fejlesztések tudományos kommunikációra gyakorolt hatására helyezte a hangsúlyt.

Ezúttal a tudományos ismeretterjesztés elméletével és gyakorlatával kívánunk foglalkozni. A tanácskozásra olyan elemzéseket, a tudománykommunikáció elméleti és/vagy gyakorlati repertoárját gazdagító vizsgálatokat várunk, amelyekben kiemelt szerep jut a tudományos ismeretterjesztés lehetőségeinek, ún. edutainment törekvéseknek, a szórakoztatva tanítás módszereinek, előnyeinek és esetleges hátulütőinek. Tudománykommunikációs (jó)gyakorlatok bemutatására is lesz lehetőség, poszterelőadás formájában.

At COIME 2025 (12th International Conference on Communication Research Methodologies, November 5-7, 2025, Universidad Complutense de Madrid), Utku Bozdag, PhD Candidate and Milson Veloso, PhD presented a paper titled "Enhancing Content Analysis with LLMs: AI Integration in Communication Research for Greater Accuracy, Efficiency, and Reliability." The presentation addressed a critical challenge in communication research: while content analysis remains one of the most popular methods in the field, it is extremely time and labor-intensive when dealing with large datasets. We proposed a methodological framework integrating three cutting-edge AI developments. This approach enables communication scholars to process larger data volumes more quickly while maintaining high reliability and replicability standards.

Why do populist messages generate high engagement on social media?

We are pleased to share that Utku Bozdag, PhD Candidate and Milson Veloso, PhD have published a joint article in the journal Communication & Society (Scopus, WoS Q1/Q2).

📄 Title: Like, Share, Influence: The Role of Populist Content in Shaping Social Media User Engagement – A Systematic Review

In this study, they analyze recent research on how populist communication styles affect user engagement on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

Their findings indicate that populist messages, especially those emphasizing emotional appeals, anti-elitism, and “us vs. them” narratives, tend to attract higher engagement levels. However, these effects vary depending on the platform, audience attitudes, and political context.

The research contributes to understanding the relationship between populist rhetoric, social media visibility, and democratic discourse in the digital age.

WWF Hungary and the Department of Communication and Media Science at Corvinus University jointly organized a workshop for journalists, media professionals, and communication and media science students on how to report responsibly about large carnivores.

During the workshop, we discussed how these animals are represented in the media, how such portrayals can shape public attitudes and opinions, and how to avoid exaggerated, sensational, or misleading narratives in wildlife reporting. The discussion focused on Hungary’s large carnivores – bears, wolves, and lynx – as key examples.

For those professionals who could not attend this time: WWF Hungary’s experts remain available to support the media with advice and professional collaboration in the future.

The workshop was organized and moderated by our PhD candidate, Anilla Till.
