In the game, colorful characters (“kobos”) collect berries. These berries are contained inside coconuts, which have to be cracked open by the kobos using little hammers. Happy to announce a new paper by our lab members. Denis Tatone Gergely Csibra Mikołaj Hernik explore the links between social cognition and object representation: 12-month-olds encode objects they saw being given in more detail than those they saw being taken.

We propose that humans are prepared to interpret giving as a diagnostic cue of reciprocal–exchange relations from infancy.
