"Mundus Mapp is a programme that has helped me to deepen my academic knowledge regarding my area of interest - sustainable poverty reduction in developing countries. Additionally, it has provided me a platform to balance my academic life with peer learning from colleagues from all around the world. Sharing the classroom and extracurricular activities with leaders from more than fifty countries, it’s been a unique experience that I highly appreciate and value. I know that in the future, the knowledge that I am obtaining and the connections I’m forging will help me achieve a key position in the field of sustainable poverty reduction."

“I highly value Mundus MAPP for the exposure it provides, not only does it equip you with a critical way of thinking and analyzing public policy, but also the diversity of our teaching staff and our colleagues that literally represents the whole globe sets a new height for the dynamics of the discussions during class. Basically, every conversation is an exciting learning experience.

I chose Mundus MAPP because I wanted to learn about public policy formulation particularly in the field of development. I wanted to explore questions like what is the underlying thought and influence behind development programs? How are the policies being implemented? How can I analyze their success or failure? A very complex process that this program has been guiding to adequately decipher.”

These are our current first year students at Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Hague (The Netherlands). The picture was taken during their welcome week back in September last year together with our ISS academic coordinator of Mundus MAPP Karim Knio.

Next Year's students will have to wait until January to meet in person. As ISS recently announced, it is going to deliver the first term online and in-person classes will probably resume in January 2021. But good news is: studies will start as planned in September and the university is working hard to maintain the high quality, state of the art, pluriform, critical and interactive educational experience.

"I chose Mundus MAPP for the singularity of the program: the specific courses for the master in public policy and the possibility to study in two different countries. My favorite part of the program is the practicality of the courses: solving real problems using the tools learnt during classes. I would like to work in an international organization where I can deal with social security issues, contributing to the well-being of the society."

"I value the fact that Mundus MAPP offers a consortium of four prestigious universities, with mobility tracks, giving me great flexibility to attain in-depth knowledge in my area of expertise. The program, which allows students to attend courses in different countries, learn from well-known scholars, and get connected with a diverse body of ambitious learners from different parts of the world, delivers an all-encompassing experience. This program is also highly practical as it offers training on critical topis that I can employ when working for international organizations as a policy analyst. I am on the way to complete my 1st year in the Mundus program and I never regret my choice to choose this course."

Over the last three days, the Mundus MAPP study visit took place. The trip, that was meant to be happening in Vienna this year, was moved online due to the COVID-19 situation. It is designed to expose Mundus MAPP students to the world of policy practice.

The first-year students had the possibility to meet with Senior Officials from Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), Austrian Foundation for Development Research (ÖFSE), Vienna City Housing, The Vienna School for International Studies, urban innovation Vienna and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens. After short presentations, our students exchanged questions and answers with our hosts and learned about their activities, advocacy role, policy advise and funding and organizational structure.

We would like to thank our hosts again for making this online study visit possible and being so motivated and engaging and hope our students could enjoy it a little despite the circumstances as well.
