Congratulations to Professor György Keglevich on receiving the Chemistry Europe Fellowship!

Professor György Keglevich of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology at BME has been recognised as one of the 22 new Chemistry Europe Fellows.
Professor Keglevich previously served as Chair of the Awards Committee of the Hungarian Chemical Society (MKE), was a member of its Executive Committee for three terms, and chaired the Organic and Medicinal Chemistry Section.
Among the previous recipients of the Chemistry Europe Fellow title are three Nobel laureates.

Today, we remember George Andrew Olah (György Oláh) - Nobel laureate honorary doctor of BME, alumnus, lecturer, and distinguished scientist - who was born on May 22, 1927. A renowned chemistry professor, he received the Hungarian Corvin Chain and the Széchenyi Grand Prize, and in 1994, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his groundbreaking contributions to carbocation chemistry. In 1996, he was also awarded the Priestley Medal, the highest honor granted by the American Chemical Society and F.A. Cotton Medal for Excellence in Chemical Research of the American Chemical Society.
He was also a pioneer in the development of the direct methanol fuel cell, a technology that offers a promising solution to the problem of global warming and continues to attract great interest.

Congratulations to Laura Ivánka who won a medal at the International Science and Engineering Fair, often referred to as the olympics of high school science. She prepared for the competition with the professional support of Josh Davidson, an assistant professor in the Department of Fluid Mechanics at BME.

TRA 2026, one of the world’s largest transportation science conferences, has begun in Budapest. As a special treat, on Thursday, 21 May, you can attend the Transport Research Arena conference free of charge, including the demonstration area, conference presentations, and the closing ceremony.
