Date of Visit: 15th November 2024
Participants: 53 students from the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management
Our adventure began at dawn, as we departed from Debrecen at 7:00 AM. Shortly after, we made an impromptu but delightful stop at Hortobágy, where we visited the iconic horse stables. This unexpected addition to the itinerary turned out to be a memorable experience. Students were thrilled to explore the stables and learn about the traditions of horse management in this culturally significant region.
The visit was further enhanced by Ms. Mariett Papp, who captivated the group with her fun facts and engaging background stories about Hortobágy. She kept the atmosphere lively and interactive with quizzes that tested our knowledge of the region's history and traditions, making the journey both educational and enjoyable.
Visit to Korona Mushroom Company
Upon arrival at the Korona Mushroom Company at 9:00 AM, we were warmly welcomed into their meeting room, where a detailed introduction to the company’s history and operations was provided. As one of the largest mushroom producers in Central Europe, the company offered a wealth of insights into the industry.
The guided tour of the production facility was the highlight of the visit. We observed every step of the process—from growing and harvesting to packaging the mushrooms. The students were particularly fascinated by the advanced technologies and sustainable practices employed by the company. Many eagerly asked questions, showing great interest in the practical applications of what they’ve studied in their courses.
One of the most exciting moments was tasting the company’s fresh mushroom-based dishes during lunch. The flavors were exceptional, and it was a unique opportunity to savor the fruits of the company’s labor.
Relaxation at Demjén Thermal Bath
Following the insightful industry visit, we headed to the Demjén Thermal Bath, where we spent two relaxing hours. For many students, this was their first experience at a thermal bath, and it proved to be extraordinary. The warm, mineral-rich waters were a perfect way to unwind after the busy morning, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the group.
Conclusion
As the sun set, we returned to Debrecen, filled with new knowledge and unforgettable memories. This trip was not only an educational experience but also a cultural journey that strengthened bonds among participants and deepened their appreciation for Hungarian traditions and innovations in agriculture.
The combination of hands-on learning, cultural immersion, and relaxation made this visit a resounding success. Students eagerly look forward to future opportunities to explore other industries and cultural landmarks.
