International Centre for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies Welcome to Aceh Research, the gateway for academics and students conducting research in and on Aceh, Indonesia and the Indian Ocean region.

The International Centre for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies (ICAIOS) is a joint effort of three universities in Aceh – University of Syiah Kuala and IAIN Ar-Raniry in Banda Aceh, and University of Malikussaleh in Lhokseumawe – and supported by the Government of Aceh as well as several international academic institutions. The Centre functions under the ICAIOS Foundation that was initiated in April 2

008. The Advisory Board has ten Indonesian and ten international members, representing distinguished Indonesian, Australian, European and American academic institutions.
