Data engineering and software engineering are two developing areas in the information and communication technology, which are interrelated and have significant roles in changing the world in many aspects, such as business, education, government and society. Although these disciplines are quite mature, research and development in these disciplines are still evolving to provide better performance of offered services or products in different criteria, e.g., efficiency or effectiveness.

The 1st International Conference on Data and Software Engineering (ICDSE 2014), is interested in gathering researchers and professionals in the domains of Data and Software Engineering, to present and discuss high-quality research results and outcomes in their fields. ICDSE 2014 aims at facilitating cross-fertilization of ideas in Data and Software Engineering areas, and hence encourages high-quality research integrating those domains.
