Explore Digital Visual Sensory Ethnography and learn how digital photography, videography, sound, and existing digital media can become part of your ethnographic research.

In this hands on workshop, you'll explore new ways to capture and understand everyday experiences in digital-material-sensory environments, while getting familiar with digital tools for ethnographic research.

Learn with M. Zamzam Fauzanafi, a lecturer and researcher in visual-digital-sensory anthropology at Universitas Gadjah Mada.

A New Collaboration Begins!

Today, 18 August 2026, FOSS UIII visited Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya for the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Airlangga.

The visit brought together the Dean of FISIP UNAIR, the Dean of FOSS UIII, and faculty members for a meaningful discussion on potential areas of collaboration and opportunities to strengthen our partnership in the future. Following the signing by both Deans, the signing was then followed by the representatives of the Master of Public Policy programs from FISIP UNAIR and FOSS UIII.

We hope this MoA marks the beginning of a meaningful and lasting collaboration, opening new opportunities for both institutions to learn, grow, and develop together.

Days 2 and 3 were filled with engaging discussions across 21 parallel panels, featuring approximately 110 paper and poster presentations. The sessions brought together researchers and practitioners from across the region, offering fresh perspectives and valuable insights on a wide range of topics in public opinion research.

It's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since we published The Feast of the Commons, FOSS UIII's 2025 recipe collection.

For the past two years, this project has become one of our favorite graduation traditions. Every edition brings together recipes shared by our graduating students, each accompanied by stories, memories, and a taste of home. What started as a cookbook has grown into a collection of cultures, identities, and the people behind every dish.

Last year's edition was made even more special with the beautiful cover illustration by Salsabila Syadza (Chacha 🍉), who was one of our graduating students at the time. We're grateful to have her artwork become part of this journey.

And now, we're about to begin our third edition!

With an even more diverse graduating class from around the world, we can't wait to discover new recipes, new stories, and new flavors that will become part of the next chapter.

After the opening ceremony at Jakarta City Hall on 27 July, we continued the day with a Jakarta City Tour!

Aboard the iconic TransJakarta double decker bus, we explored the vibrant streets of the city before making a stop at the magnificent Istiqlal Mosque. Everyone enjoyed the evening walk while taking in the cool breeze, the lively atmosphere, and yes, even a little Jakarta traffic became part of the experience.

For many of our participants, seeing Jakarta's cityscape and walking along its pedestrian friendly streets was a new and memorable experience. We hope you enjoyed discovering a glimpse of Indonesia and that this visit inspires you to explore even more of what our country has to offer.

On 27 July 2026, we officially opened the Ninth Annual Conference of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) Asia Pacific 2026.

The opening ceremony took place at Jakarta City Hall and was inaugurated by the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung.

The event also featured the PERSEPI Media Award, which was presented to Litbang Kompas in recognition of its outstanding contribution to public opinion research and journalism in Indonesia. Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement! We hope Litbang Kompas continues to deliver insightful, credible, and impactful research that helps shape informed public discourse.

The day continued with an afternoon tea gathering and a Jakarta city tour, offering participants the opportunity to connect and experience the city’s rich culture.
