Islamic University of North Sumatra abbreviated UISU established on January 7, 1951 , the first college standing outside the island of Java , which is spearheaded by the leaders of Islamic youths at that time , namely Bahrum Djamil , Adnan Benawi , Sariani USA , Rival Nasution Abdul Manaf , and Sabaruddin Ahmad . ndonesian Islamic Academy prep class (equivalent to grade III SMA part A ) and then with the support of Mr. Judge ( then Governor of North Sumatra ) and Mr. Wahid Hasyim ( Minister of Religion at that time ) Indonesian Islamic Academy converted to the Islamic University of Indonesia ( PTII ) and began the inauguration of the first lectures on January 7, 1952 at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences . Furthermore dated January 7, 1952 to coincide Miladiah 9 Rabi al-Awwal 1371 Hijri serve as the anniversary PTII which then turns into the Islamic University of North Sumatra and obtain approval from the Minister of Education of Republic of 0677 / U / 1977 dated December 31, 1977 . With the struggle and determination of the entire academic community UISU and support from the government , scholars and the public , currently manages 9 UISU Studies Program Faculty and 26 S - 1 , S - 3 Program Study 2 , and 1 S - 3 Studies Program Economics and Policy UISU cooperation with UII Yogyakarta.
